So My husband didn't get the job. =( We are both really bummed. I am not sure what we are going to do now. He has been out of work for 3 months now and we are living off of savings and help from our parents. We have over $1,200 in bills due next month and I really don't see how we are going to make things work. I am just so frustrated. I sold my car and am driving my FILs car, we canceled cable TV, and we canceled the home phone. Hopefully I can start watching a baby during the day. I just feel so helpless and stuck in a rut. I could go back to work but I would basically just be working to put my son in daycare. I need to finish school to get a "real" job we can't afford it and who would watch my son? I really am just depressed and at a loss right now. Thanks for listening. If you have any ideas please let me know. My hubby did suggest selling his sperm. haha. Lets hope it doesn't come down to that!

Hey Ca__sJ, I am sorry you are having a really rough time. If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? What kind of work is your husband into? What about you taking a job and your hubby staying with your son? I realize you go to school and that is important to finish, but maybe a part time job or something just to help out a bit? That would save you daycare costs and if hubby is not working it might work. Keep your head up and things will get better it is just a matter of time. GOOD LUCK to you and your family.

Hey Ca__s have you looked into things like a__sistance for paying bills like your Public Service.. Here in WI they have a program to help out with your bill if you get behind.. it takes awhile to get into but I hear they backpay quite a bit.. I'm not sure if you can get WIC/foodstamps or not.. but look into all those resources. Every little bit helps. I know its hard but things do get better. Oh like Rans asked what your husband does for a living.. he could always try those placement agencies like Adecco. Its most often factory work but they usually pay 9 or 10 bucks an hour. Even if its only temporary until he gets something better. Good luck to you guys. =)

ca__sj, so sry to hear. sindel is right, those agencies are really good. he doesnt need much experience, and they offer alot of hours. he could apply for 5 or 6 agencies, so the work comes in often. i live in australia so i dont know the rates difference in the dollar, but i worked in an agency to pa__s time when i was younger, and they gave me $21 an hour to pack jewelery! my dad works for an agency and earns alot of money moving phone books onto crates. he could also look at asking around to paint ppls houses. and if your willing to do that, ppl often choose women to paint there houses over men. he could mow lawns, or do handy work around the neighbourhood. he could apply at a cafe just for abit of extra cash, depending on your backyard size, you could also offer to look after dogs. i know there is a company in our area desperate for help with dogs but i cant help there(backyard not big enough). do you have a makeup company like avon that you could sell for? all you have to do, is walk around your area with products and get ppl to buy them, that way, you could take your baby. i know it doesnt bring in much money, but it does help, and you could do all of the above at once. what about paper rounds, or a supermarket? just for a temporary thing until he gets his job back. even if he works at a fast food outlet just to get that money you need in the mean time. or you could all give blood, im pretty sure they pay for that. im sry i cant help more. i wish i could, i guess, we all wish we could. i would say that i hope it will all get better soon, but i know it will. it always falls into place. have faith in yourselves, if you are determined, you will succeed! best wishes to you and yours.

Hey, thanks so much for the suggestions. Dee I might look into selling makeup. I know you have to have some money to start doing it but I could borrow it from my mom. We live in SC. He has applied to a lot of agencies including Adecco. He has a BS degree in communications, so he is a writer/editor. Can you give blood while b___stfeeding? Thanks guys for your help!

Is your dh eligible for unemployment benefits? Also, as Sindel mentioned I would definitely look into public a__sistance until you can get back on your feet.

luviduvi - February 14

Is your hubby only lookiing for jobs for "writer/editor"? Very impresive by the way. I hear the school of Journalism is tough and compet_tve, as well as the job market. Has he applied to any other jobs besides what he "thinks" he's eligible for? A BS is a BS. He shouldn't be afraid to apply for ANY positions. I hope good things come your way soon Ca__s, I am thinking of you!

I'm so sorry to hear this!! My hubby was thinking about selling his plasma for somemore $$, so I wouldn't have to get a job. (I'm so serious BTW) I know I'm worried about school too. I only have a year and a half left, but we don't have the $ right now for me to go full time, maybe not even part time. Gosh, I'm sorry.
