Watery Spit Up

My dd had some real bad spit-up a little while ago that spurted out real bad and looked like water. Some of it was caught in her throat because she turned red and acted like she couldn't breath. Scared me to death!!!! Finally she got it all out and could breath again. Anyone else's baby ever have this? She sounds a little congested also and when I had her sitting on my lap she did burp a few times. Could it just be some watery burps that needed to come out? Thanks in advance..

That's a common side effect for reflux babies. Mason has choked so bad that he has turned colors on me n the past. :( If it is something new and isn't happening regularly, I wouldn't worry too much. The watery-ness could be mucous, could be stomach acid, etc. If it starts happeneing a lot get her checked out.

It can also be, depending on the age, saliva. When they turn about 2-3 months they are drooling constantly and will sometimes choke on it a bit. The same thing happened with my LO several months ago and I freaked, but the ped a__sured me she was fine. Also as Bonnie said (our resident reflux expert) it can be a sign of reflux, my LO had a touch of it, but nothing like Bonnies ds. I would just be sure that she doesn't lay down immediately following feedings.
