Weaning From Breast

My son is almost 7 months old and I am ready to wean him and I think he ready is too. He is beating on me and biting me while he nurses. I have tried giving him formula in a bottle and a sippy cup but he won't take either one. Any suggestions?

I guess the only advice I can give is make a choice b/w bottle or sippy (so he doesn't get confused) and keep trying for a little while each day. I had to do that w/ my daughter when she was 8-9 months because I was pregnant and was having some cramping when I nursed. I just had to keep trying it every day until she took it. Unfortunately for us it was a month, hopefully it won't be as long for you. One day, out of the clear blue sky, she just took it like it was no big deal!

Well onr thing is for sure...if he is hungry he will eat ! Just dont give him anything but the formula...if he refuses, try again in one hour, if he refuses again, try again in one hour. He will eventually get hungry and eat. Then dont go back to the b___st. If you need to pump, then pump less often to " dry up ". Or you can pump the same amount he was feeding to keep your milk supply. It is just going to be more inconvient because you will have to stop and pump if you are out, or just plan your afternoon before hand. Put the b___st milk in the bottle. But like i said, if he is hungry, he will eat. Was he on strictly b___st ? Did he ever drink from a bottle ? If a baby is hungry, he will find a way to suck . Good luck.

I had a similar problem with Mason when I went back to work. It was only about 3-4 weeks ago that he really started taking the cup well and not refusing it at first and I went back to work in Nov! I know that doesn't sound very promising, but he will take it eventually when he gets hungry enough.

I was wondering about this too(for in the future). I was just wondering what formula is good to give when weaning or supplementing? Thanks
