i am in the middle of trying to figure out if my ds is trying to go to 1 nap a day. He currently is taking 2 one somewhere between 10-11 for 1-1.5 hrs and then again between 2-3 for 1 hr to 1hr 15 min. Lately he has been getting later and later in the am for a nap and then the pm nap is too late to have. I just don't think he is quite ready for one nap as he will be doane by 5pm then. if i did try to get 1 nap say 12-2 is i got a 2 hr nap? then bed would be 7pm no later and he only sleeps 11 hrs at night max.

lin7604 - imagine this...it's me. We seem to have similar children. ha ha My dd would not nap at daycare and still doesn't unless they put her in the super dooper BIG baby swing. Yes, she is 13 months old and still napping in a swing at daycare. Anyway - she might get one nap there and then is exhausted by the time I pick her up and will either nap on the ride home at 5:00 or lately prefer until we get home then nap starting at 5:30. She was absolutely exhausted last night and boo hooing, there was no holding off her nap. She woke on her own at 6:30, we changed her, fed her, let her play, etc....put her down at 8:40 p.m. We normally get up for the day around 7:00 a.m.

so he nap isn't that long though if she falls asleep on the way home? i just find that most days my ds doesn't seem to show any tired signs at all, leaving it a guessing game daily. I just go by the clocka ndhe always has a nice nap, he may talk to himself for a few mins but then off to dream land. I just don't know if i should wait it out and wait for tired signs but then it might mess things up before bed? eg) today he was up at 7:15 i think, well that is when we heard him at 10:45 he was still fine and playing but i put him down anyway. He talked for 2 min and has been sleeping since, it's now 11:40 but if i waited later then nap probally would of been around 11:30-12 and i find that if he naps later then 4:30 he can't get to sleep by 8pm and if he goes to bed later then that i find he wakes at night? or cries on and off peridocially at night in his sleep.
