I am going ot start my son on solids over the next week. What is the best thing to start with? I have 2 older children but started them 2 on rice, then moved onto jarred food. I can't afford to do that this time, so I will be making my own. I know it's best to do it one food at a time. I have also heard that Orange Veg is the easiest to digest? Is that true?

This is exactly an answer to your question but I found this website yesterday. It has recipes for all types of baby food including baby cereal, it may help some. http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/

You can also get ground oats for oatmeal at health food stores and buy it by the pound for very very cheap. My ds is allergic to rice cereal and we have used the plain oats and he is doing great. Also orange veggies are very easy to digest and have fewer allergies. Sweet potatoes carrots are great. You can start with pears, bananas, applesauce. They say to wait on fruit because its sweet and baby won't want veggies but if your baby is bf he already has sweet from your b___st milk. Also to get the fruit or veggies to be real thin you'll use either water or b___st milk again making it a little sweeter and familar.

Read the thread on "Pureeing Baby Food" started by pbj, which is on the next page. If you plan on making your own baby food you will probably find it useful.
