My ds is 7.5 months old and is on #3 foods. He doesn't have teeth either. I also give him arrowroot cookies, cheerios, puffs, and other finger foods. as long as he doesn't gag and shudder he is ready.

I have tied the puffs (only 2), and he did gag, but I think it may be because he isn't use to the texture.

I tried giving them to my 8 month old and he gags on it. He has 1 tooth and also "chews"...I make home-made baby food predominantly and can make it pretty lumpy (just like the jarred stage 3) and he eats that fine. I think try it and if he gags then he isn't ready.

That could be it too. I wanted to add that I started with the thicker fruit. He likes fruit way better so I gave him that first. Some things he just doesn't like and gags and spits it up. He hates turkey and mixed veggies. Won't eat it. If your lo likes fruit try it first. Then go to veggies that you know he already likes. If you make some at home just don't mash it up as good. I give my guy lots of things that we eat. just mashed up.

Not really just thicker. I always add to it though.
