when do you start offering your lo more lumpier foods and finger foods? i am so scared of my lo choking i feel like i dont ever want to start but know i have to! lol. my dd is 8.5 months and so far has only had pureed baby food and stuff in her mesh feeder, and the dissolving fruit puffs, but i still break them in half for her and she does fine. oh, and she's also had zwieback toast but doesn't seem interested in it lately (used to LOVE it). how do you know when they understand to chew and swallow and are ready for some lumpier foods and finger foods?

Just make sure that the lumps and finger foods that are cut up are the same size as the tip of your little finger. That way there is no way she can choke. Cheerios are great! All babies seem to love them. I have also heard that Rice Krispies are a good finger food. Diced fruit and cooked, diced veggies (very steamed). Strips of toast with a light layer of cream cheese ect. wholesome babyfood.com is a great site for ideas on finger foods.
