When To Start Stage One Food

ds will be 4 months old next week, and has been on cereal for about a month and a half now. i was talking to my mom and neighbor and they said he should do fine on stage one because his bowels are fine and his digestive system handles the cereal with no problem, and the box says to start it when they can sit assisted, which he does just fine...so is it ok to start him on some fruits and veggies, or should i wait more? the dr. said we would talk about it at his 4 month appointment, but he'll be about 4 1/2 months by than and seems like he's ready now.

also, if he had an allergy to it, how long would it take to show up?

Well, they say that if you start him on a food, like green beans, then give him grean beans for about a week or a little less to see if he has a reaction, then, start a new food like peas for a week and so on and so forth. I would just wait until you have your forth month appt. and see what your doc. says.......

I did not start any foods including cereal until my son was 6 months old. I would wait and ask your doctor.

We started cereal at 4 months and then a week later started veggies. We did each new veggi for 4 days just to make sure she had no reaction. So far she has done well with everything. I was told on here that it is better to start out with orange veggies and that is what I did.

i have been giving my son cereal with fruit (mixed) for a week or 2 now. I did the same with my daughter. I didnt start veggies until 5-6 months because they are ga__sier and tougher on the belly.
