When Will Baby Start Sleeping Through The Night

I also posted on 'br___tfeeding' forum but thought I'd post here since there are more of you on this forum. MIL says a baby should be sleeping through the night at 3 months. I'm sure it's different for br___tfed babies but what is your experience? My 11 week old still wants to be fed every 2-3 hours during day and 3-4 hours at night. Sometimes he'll go 5 hours but not often. I'm interested in hearing mostly from br___tfeeding moms but also curious about formula fed babies too.

Peri, Every child is different. My 1st (b/f and bottle after 3mos) didn't sleep through the night till at least 6mos. My 2nd child (3mos now) has been sleeping 9-10 hours for the past month. So there's no guarantee. FYI, my 3mo old is b/f only.

my baby girl is 8 1/2 months old and she's still b___stfed with no formula.. ofcourse she's eating meals now but not that much.. anyway, she sleeps 10 hrs at night but she has to wake up and nurse.. a typical night would be that she sleeps at 11 and then wakes up again at 4:30 am for nursing,, then again at 6:30 or 7 and would finally wake up at 8 or 8:30 to start her day.. she NEVER spet throughout the night without waking up to nurse,, but its really easier now than before,, ALOT easier actually.. good luck :)

Every child is different. My friend took delight in telling me her son didn't sleep through until he was 7 years old!! My son was predominently b___st fed and slept through from 11 weeks. He is now predominetly bottle fed (he's 5 months) and wakes 2 or 3 times a night!

I might get shoot down for this but....I started pumping off some of my foremilk before I nursed dd so that she got more hindmilk before bed (10pm) she will sleep 7 hours that way. (shes only 6 weeks) Lac Con said it was ok since I have soo much milk she usually gets mostly foremilk during the day.

Ha my bf ds didn't start sleeping thru the night until 12 months!! He woke up 2x a night to nurse until 8 months then once a night until right around 12 months. I tried cio several times but ds was hungry- he has a huge appit_te and is only in the 8% for weight so he was hungry. All babies are different so tell yourMIL thanx for the great, helpful advice tell her your nights are going great and do what you know is right for you lo.
