I am a type 1 diabetic, and 8 weeks pregnant. because I am diabetic, it is assumed the baby will be big, and the placenta will mature faster than usually. If the baby begins to get too big, will most doctors order c-sections or induce natural labor?

You will have to ask your doctor. I believe most will induce rather than section.

Most docs will want to induce labor. It's the rare doc that will be comfortable letting it go naturally. But how will the doctor know if the baby is "too big" anyway? A couple things to think about: First, ultrasounds are notoriously unreliable as far as determining weight. Second, it's really the size of the baby's head that makes the difference, not how much fat the baby has on its body. Third, doctors have a skewed idea of what const_tutes a "big" baby, because they usually insist that the woman give birth in the lithotomy position, which decreases the size of the pelvic outlet.
