How Many Cm Before The Hospital Will Admit You

My due date is today. Just had a doctor's appt this morning. I am 4 cm dialated and more than ready! My doctor won't schedule an induction until next week (41 weeks), but I don't know if I can wait that long. I've been feeling a lot of pressure down low, but no consistent contractions. My friend told me to go to the hospital, that they'll admit you if you are at least 4 cm dialated... is that true??

I don't think so, at least not around here. It doesn't really have anything to do with how many cm you are when you are admitted. Usually they go by how far apart your contractions are. I guess all you can do is call and ask but if you are scheduled for an induction then I would just wait. All the hospital is going to do is probably call your doctor and if you are not in labor, then what are they going to do with you? They will not induce you without your doctors consent.

I was admitted at 2cm because i was getting regular, painful contractions and i had a bloody show just before they started (and i think my water had broken a few days before). I don't think they admitted me based on my dilation though, it was on the other symptoms.

they will only admit you if you are in active labour. My cousin walked around for 4 weeks 3 cm dialated....she went into labour naturally. Hopefully you will go soon!! Good luck!

If your water breaks, if your having contraction's 5 min apart or closer for more than an hour, negative fetal movement (not feeling baby move for a long time) are all reasons for going into the FBC....
