At 40 weeks with DS I wasn't soft nor open. I had to be induced. I walked. I walked more. I ate spicy food. Nothing worked. Inducing worked. Guess it's a case by case thing.

If you are going natural I hear the jetted tub is a god send. I had an epidural, and will with this one too. I still had a ton of pain. You are a strong woman for doing it with no drugs, more power to you. Good luck!!! Have a healthy baby!!!

Tell your dr to wait. Up to 3 weeks past due date is within the normal range. Talk about induction happy docs. As I said in another post on here, try to take natures course. Any unnecessary interventions can most likely lead you down a path of labor of which you are no longer in control of. Do your reading. I went from having hard unopened cervix to 3 days later having a speedy home birth. I was in the care of a midwife who is a believer in the woman's body. Good luck!

Much past 40 weeks and the placenta begins to age and the baby doesn't get ample nutrients. I was one of those babies. I am almost 32 now and back then they didn't really know. I had lost weight and only weighed 5 and a half pounds. I was quite sickly looking for about 2 months and suffered siezures. Inducing at 41 weeks is the right thing to do. Good luck to you. :0}
