Dear Ladies, I am 40 weeks and 4 days, will be induced when 41 and two days. Doctor said that he will use cytotec. I am really scared, becuase I have heard a lot of bad tings about it. With my first pregnancy I was given pitocin when I was in a full blown labor, just to speed things up. I didnt have any bad reaction to it...... Which medication would you go for? Pitocin? Cytotec ? or CervadiL? I dont know much about it......I am so stressed, I want this baby out, but so scared of induction.....

Personally if I had the option , I'd go with cervadil, from what I have read it seems to be the safest and most natural. I wouldn't want to try the cytotec, but doctors clain its safe so who knows?

I'm no expert on this but as I recall from what I have read, cervadil helps soften you and pitocin brings on contractions so they usually use them in combination. I would ask that they try that first and then Cytotek. At this point I would say trust your doctor. If he trusts Cytotek, there is probably a reason. If you really feel uncomfortable with it, than maybe suggest the Cervadil/Pitocin method to ease your worries. Maybe he just wants to skip to what he knows worked. I know many who Cervadil/Pitocin wasn't doin it for them so they brought in the Cytotek and that was what worked.

Cytotec is not FDA approved for induction (as I recall please don't hold me to that) even though doctors use it this way anyway.....I do know it is controversial. All I can say is talk to your doctor about the options just so you know what you are facing.

I would ask for Pitocin just because its the most commonly used one from what I am aware of. Plus i had it didnt bother me at all.
