Bedrest And Workout

Hi all. My dr put me on mild bed rest (with limited activity at home) for shortened cervix (2.5). im 23w3d and feeling pretty depressed and isolated from my family and my active routine. I had to give up a busy workout routine (daily 3-4 mile run) as well. my dr agreed to my plan of 1 h swimming daily (just slow lap) to keep me sane (as it the only workout that puts no pressure on the cervix). wondering wether anyone heard of this or done this. Other possible solutions? I have more than 10 weeks to go, i'll go nuts !!!

Swimming is your best bet if you are wanting to exercise but you need to stick to the one hour and slow laps. Anything else where you are upright or doing any kind of impact or lifting will put pressure on the cervix and could cause it to shorten further and possibly put you into pre-term labour. Your Doctor is obviously concerned and I would do as he asks fr now. Anything for a healthy baby!

my doctor told me to stop running the minute I was pregnant and I'm a runner for the past 13 years. I do fast walking exercises uphill and that kept me sane for the past 5 months.
