Anyone In Same Situation

Anyone else having complications later in pregnancy? I'm 25 weeks and am considered high risk and not expected to carry to term. At this point we're just trying to get me as far along as possible. My ob says she'll be a happy woman if we can get me to 30 weeks. This is our first and so far no ones been able to give much of an explanation as to why we're having problems. My only risk factor was that I was underweight before I got pregnant (I'm 5'1 and was 95 lbs.) but I've gained 22 lbs so far and am trying real hard to put on more weight. I've had braxton hicks sice 12 weeks at around 18 they became even more frequent. Then at 21 weeks my ob found cervical funneling, apparently the contractions were being productive. Now since 23 weeks when I ended up in the hospital for 3 days on meds to stop my contractions I've been able to do little more than sit around all day. Which is fine if it keeps him from making an early appearence but it's still kind of boring and at the same time extremely nerve racking. Is anyone else in a similiar situation? I could really use someone else who's kind of going through the same thing to talk to. Don't get me wrong my husband and family are great but they don't have all the extra hormones to deal with ya know :) There's been times when I just can't help but cry because I'm so scared and feel responsible in some way. Sometimes I feel like I'm already a bad mother because I can't keep him safe and inside me until he's strong enough to not need extra care. If that makes any sense. Thanks and I hope to hear from someone

I don't know if you're going through the same thing I went through with my first preg but I had an incompetent cervix with the same symptoms as you. At 23 weeks, I had dilated 2 cm and my cervix was thinning out and "funneling" as you called it into a cone shape. My doctor put me in the hospital that day and did the cerclage, which is simply putting a st_tch in my cervix to sew it closed. I went on strict bedrest until 28 weeks and then from then on out, I could only get up for 2 hours per WEEK. I called it my Priveleges:-) I made it to 37 1/2 weeks and had a very healthy baby. I was given the lung steroids for my baby at 23 weeks and my daughter didn't even have to be in the incubator. She's a very healthy 21 month old now. If this sounds very familiar, I suggest asking your doctor about doing the cerclage and putting you on Breathine (or Turbutaline) which is an anti-contraction drug. I took that from 23 weeks thru 37 weeks. As soon as I came off the drug, I started having contractions. That's why I only made it to 37 1/2 weeks. Hope this helps to calm your fears. Trust God in everything and live like He's already answered your prayers!
