I've been in your situation and cysts never caused any problems with any of my three children. But they can cause a problem with you. I had a hystarecamy to finally solve all of my pain problems. you should really do your research for yourself, because doctors don't always help

Can cysts on the ovaries prevent me from having children?

christine - November 1

I had a cyst on my ovary that was not found until I found out I was pregnant. It ended up growing and I had to have it drained a couple weeks ago because it was so big...cysts are pretty normal and can cause problems with concieving but as you can see I still got pregnant and the baby is doing good. If they rupture I heard they can cause a large amount of pain, but they usually do not cause too many problems, at least that is what I have read and I did a lot of research on the subject considering I had to have surgery while I was pregnant. The cyst did hurt, off and on...sonogram is probably the best way to detect if you have one though they say your doc should be able to feel one at your obgyn visit...(mine didnt).

I don't know, but I'm only 17 yrs old and I have a tiny cysts on my right overy and every month I have really shap pain and I don't know what to do?? The E.R doc didn't tell me much about this and i am trying to find out as much information as i can to stop the pain!!

I just had a cyst pop..and thought I miscarried bc of all the bleeding and clotting I have been having. But I was told..they can drain the cyst but they can also come back. and there really isnt anything you can do for them. I thought I had appendisitis bc of the pain in my right side.

Cameron - September 17

In answer to JOJo it sounds like you are suffering from mittelschmerz . My Wife has suffered from this every month since she was 16 and unfortunately there is no 'cure' but apart from the pain it doesn't actually cause any problems with fertility as our 2 healthy children will attest to. You can stop the pain by stopping ovulation with an oral contraceptive or my wife finds naproxen sodium (naprogesic) effective at dulling the pain if she takes it as soon as she notices it happening. Good luck.

I got a cyst on my left overy and they are going to do a ultasound to see what is going on

Jennifer - October 4

Let me tell you, I have had cysts on my ovaries for the past few years pregnant or not. When I first got one I rushed to the emergency room only to be told that it was "just an ovarian cyst." Then when I got pregnant I rushed to my ob and it was "just a cyst." I think that should pretty much answer your question. Be thankful you don't have them as often as others. Good luck :)
