Chance Of Survival

On Jan 25, 2007, I was 12 weeks along, I had sat down from folding baby clothes, and got a wet feeling in my underpants, Needless to say it was blood, moderate gush of blood, I called my hubby and got to the hospital ASAP. After 5 hours in the ER they admitted me, they checked the babys heartbeat, he was a little hard to find since he was so active, and it was perfect. They also did an ultrasound and he was perfectly normal, except the placenta had torn away a little bit. I spent over night in the hospital and the bleeding stopped at about noonish on Jan 26,2007, they kept me till about 5 pm. I was released, and put on bed rest, now on Jan 29, 2007 I am still having a very very light spoting, No pad is even nessasary, I just notice it when i use the restroom. So what are my baby chances of survival? Im trying to get my self prepared if he dont, but by the way my doc sounded that the sooner the gushes of blooded stopped the better the chances and those stopped within 24hrs. So am I thinking right or just giving my self false hope? Sorry i rambled this is my first on and Im a little freaked out right now, any advice would be great!!! thanks

I had bleeding at 10 weeks with my son. It freaked me out because I had had a m/c at 10 weeks with my 1st pregnancy, but I went in and had an u/s and they basically told me the same as what they told you. I took it VERY easy after that and had my son.... a big and healthy 9 lbs. 5 oz.!

K84, I have had two of these happen once at 7 weeks the second at 12 weeks. My second was very bad, the bleed was the same size as the baby. I was pulled out of work for 3 weeks and just had my checkup today. From what I have heard, from others here the bleed has to be huge like mine to really be at a risk for m/c. My doctor said I was at risk due to the size of mine. I would have though your doctors would have told you if you were at a big risk, if not you need to ask. My bleeding didn't relent for nearly 3 weeks. If yours has nearly stopped after 4 days it sounds like it is resolving itself. I would just take it very easy until the take you off of bed rest. I did and mine is shrunk to nearly being gone. Good luck!

Lauryn, that is such good news! I have one too. Mine bleed at 6 weeks and 11 weeks, i am now 13 weeks and it is still there, but I am on strict bed rest for at least two weeks. My only bleed like 1/2 a pad for two hours then stopped. But i am still freaked. But your story gives us all hope, thank you.!

I had bleeding at 6 weeks with this pregnancy, same complications except I also had low progesterone. I think that things can turn out very well, be very careful and best of luck.
