Down Syndrome Poor Blood Test

Has anyone else has a combined 1st trimester nuchal/blood screen for Down Syndrome? My ultrasound was perfectly normal, but the risk was greatly increased due to a high HcG level and low PAPP-A level. Anyone else have this result and what was the outcome

If I were you I would not worry about the blood test if you had a normal ultrasound result the blood screening is not very good I had a positive result from the afp screening at 16wks my result was 1/41 for trisomy 18 which is far worse than ds and I had 2 level 2 ultrasounds 4 wks apart which showed not one soft marker for trisomy 18 or anything else only showed healthy baby boy!! Good luck

I am 21 weeks pregnant and just had a positive triple screen for downs also. my doctor says it is wrong. anything can make those tests fail. i have an ultrasound on the 23rd, and i am not afraid, because the odds are in my favor. all of my other ultrasounds have been healthy. dont stress, because it may hurt your baby. 9 times out of ten, your results were wrong. good luck!

Hi I just got the results back from my triple screen and I tested 1 and 29 chance of having Downs Syndrome. This is my fourth pregnancy 2 healthy and 1 miscarriage in June 2005 and I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. I am so scared, I have an amnio tomorrow and there also doing an ultrasound.

Thank you all for your responses. It means so much just to know you're not the only person out there in this particular boat. I have my level 2 ultrasound today to identify any additional soft markers for DS. I'll let everyone know how things turn out.

Well things went really bad for me. My little girl had Turners Syndrome with fetal hydrops and cystic hygroma they said she would survive only in me, but as soon as she is born she will die. I am also at risk because her placenta is swelling and sending toxins into my blood and I will become sick and possible death. I am pro-life and seeked advice from a pro-life Reverend and he said if I am induced and give birth then I am not killing my baby, but putting the decision in gods hands. I have two other children 2 and 4 years that need thier mommy other wise I would take the risk. I gave birth to Treya yesterday at 2:08 am after a long hard labor with no drugs. She died during the delivery and I held her, dressed her and took hands and finger prints. I also had a pro life reverend bless her. Im sorry to tell my story, but sometimes those tests do indicate a problem. I will miss my sweet beautiful baby girl. Tara, I will be praying for you and your baby.

I am so so sorry. That must have been a difficult decision for you to make and such a difficult labour knowing what you had to face at the end of it. I am glad you got to hold your little girl and I hope you find strength from the support of your family.
