Eclampsia Will It Reoccur

I had a severe case of pre-eclampsia at the very end of my pregnancy which went undiagnosed and developed into severe eclampsia 5 days post partum. Has anyone had experience with this and had subsequent pregnancies? My son is a healthy 14 month old. I am now 5 months pregnant with our second and concerned about reoccurance. I have spoken with the specialist and read the statistics. I just wanted to know if someone has had first hand experience. Thanks.

I haven't tried again yet-- but I had severe eclampsia with no symptoms at 29 weeks. Started showing protein and then a seizure at 30 weeks-- nobody saw it coming... Went postpartum without additional seizures thankfully, but severe HELLP instead. I've seen 3 specialists about it-- they said that in my case, because I was so early and so very severe that it is likely to happen again, but that they will be checking me more thouroughly bi-monthly. My Dr said that sometimes early U/S can hint at pre-e later on. (measuring small and some other factors) Maybe ask your Dr to check your u/s for the baby's growth rate? It's such a strange disorder-- I hope they learn more about it soon! Good luck to you-- I'm sure you and the baby will be fine this time around!

No first hand experience here but both my cousin and my sister in law had eclampsia during delivery of their first child and both had great second pregnancies with no eclampsia.
