Hypertension In Early Pregnancy

I always thought that preeclampsia was at the later stages of pregnancy, but I am only 13 weeks along. Right now the doctors have asked me to check my blood pressure regularly, do this 24 hr. urine count, and did a lot of bloodwork today in the office. I do have some high blood pressure readings, protein in the urine, and am urinating small amounts even when I drink a ton of water. I do get headaches often, but have a long history with migraine problems. I am scared right now as to what the rest of the pregnancy will be like, and what this can do to me, and my unborn child. Any suggestions, or other situations like this out there?

Not sure how far along you are...I'm 15 weeks now. When I was 9 weeks, I was diagnosed with High blood pressure and immediately sent to see a cardiologist and schedule a Level II ultrasound with a perinatologist. High BP is not something to mess around with. I do not have any protein in my urine (yet). I have been placed on blood pressure medication by the cardiologist as not being on any medication is worse for the baby. Please talk to your OB and see if you should be seeing a cardiologist and/or perinatologist and if medication should be added. good luck!
