Late Pregnancy Bleeding

For the last two and a half weeks I have had four episodes of bleeding. Not just spotting but full blown bleeding. The bleeding, which is red, stops shortly after it starts and soaks a pad. I've gone to the hospital each time, and each time the baby has been fine. I've seen multiple Dr's and they can't say for sure what is causing it. One Dr. suggested that I might have a gradual tearing away of the placenta from the uterine wall, but not enough for concern because the baby is doing well. I am 34 weeks pregnant. This is a first pregnancy and I am 41 years old. I do not have Placenta Previa. Has this happened to anyone? I am really stressed over this. The Dr. has me on bed rest.

Newt-I am 25 wks. I have had 5 or 6 bleeding episodes. The most recent was 2 weeks ago. I was sitting on the couch and blood poured out unto the floor. It wouldn't stop. I ended up having to stay for the first time in the hospital, 2 weeks ago. I was in for 3 days. On the second day, I had another bleeding episode with a lemon size clot. My twins are fine. I came home on Day 4. I am now on Bedrest til deliver which is the second wk of Jan. My doctors say that I have a fibroid that has attached itself to my placenta. When I do alot of movement such as walking, sitting standing, etc... It irratates the two and a blood vessel bursts causing me to bleed. They hope bedrest will work. I am 36 years old. I go back in tomorrow for a check up. I pray all is well. Maybe I will get modified bedrest. Pls, don't stress. I was told that stress can make things work. You are almost there Newt. Just pray and think positive. You can do it! Do you have fibroids When is your next appt?

Thank you MsMonet for the encouraging words. Today my Dr. gave me the option of being admitted until my 36th week for 24 hour monitoring. I think I am going to accept the offer. Hopefully, while under constant watch they will be able to tell something.

Newt-Bedrest has done wonders... Everything appears to be good. Twins look great! I pray for no more bleeding between now and then. Aw, its so scary! I don't wish it on anyone. I think you should except the offer too, Newt. I want all to be well for you. 24 hour monitoring will be great although it sucks to be in the hospital. Will you have a laptop? Bring your own pillows, lotions, soap, etc... I will be thinking about you... I feel that all will be well with you. Cheer up, B___tercup. Be positive and try not to stress. All emotions are chemicals that are pa__sed down to our babies... You will be just fine. Just think... Your baby will be here in a few wks. :o) When do you go in?

Thank you so much. I am going to go into the hospital next week. I needed to make sure things were going to be taken care of at home before I went in. The only bad thing is that I thought I would have a little more time to get things ready for the baby. As much as I love my hubby - and I adore him - I now have to rely on him to finish getting things ready. I am trying so hard to put things in God's hands. Getting pregnant in the first place was such a joyous shock for me. I keep telling myself that God meant for this to happen and has control of the situation, but I have to admit I'm still scared. I am so happy that your twins are doing well!

Newt-Just lean on God. I know what you mean about leaving your hubby to do everything. My hubby is so helpful but just can't clean as good as I. I am on perm bedrest til delivery. My home deosn't look at all like I would keep it. Sometimes, I get tempted to clean... Just trust in God. Things will work out. You may not understand things now but you will later. You are going to get something from all of this and so will your hubby. Be patient! Girl, I really believe that God always lays you on your back for a reason. I was in the hospital for 3 or 4 days. I learned something that I have trouble with... And, thats having other people to do for me. Even hospital nurses and attendants. By the end of my stay I realized why I was this way and those old ways were broken...You'll get something from this... And, you'll be taken care of. You want all of this rest later so take advantage of it. Everything happens for a reason. I know that you will be fine.
