Hi ,Im 5 weeks pregnant. I already had 2 miscarriages in the past 5 months. My doctor call today and said my HCG is 850(6 days ago was 22) and my progesterone is 18,so he put me on supplements. Whats is going on?

Hi karlaba2, I wouldn't worry too much about your level. From what I've read anything from 12-20 is fine, and some women just have lower levels that sustain their bodies. Do you know what your levels were before becoming pregnant? My progesterone is 9, so I am on suppositories right now and a cream. The doc told me not to be alarmed if I got called to take supplements as they usually will just as a precaution. GL! Hope this helps

Hi - don't worry, i was in the same situation as you. I had 2 previous m/c both with D&Cs. For my 3rd pregnancy my doctor gave me progesterone suppliments to be taken twice a day (1 in the morning and 1 at night) until 12-13 weeks. He also gave me baby asprin to be taken every morning until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried to death during the first trimester, i bled a bit, had abdominal cramps, and worried A LOT. I am now 13 weeks pregnant and will finish the progesterone by Saturday. Don't worry, things will go well. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Maya

HI karla, How are your levels recently? I went back to my doc and just after a week of being on the suppositories, my level went from 9.5 to 20.1. My hcg levels increased by 1000 too. So, obviously the low progesterone wasn't an issue. They do give me mild cramping though - have you found that to be so? Hope all is well.

With my first pregnancy, my progesterone was 17, so he put me on the v____al suppositories. They apparently didn't help too much and I had a miscarriage. I don't know if the miscarriage was related to the progesterone levels. I recently became pregnant again. My progesterone was 26.5, so I am thrilled and was so relieved that I didn't have to worry about that factor. HCGs are great too. I've read that the supplemts do not help AFTER conception and that for them to work properly, they need to be started before you conceive.
