Scared To Try Again For Baby 2

I was just wondering if there were others out there who were nervous about the idea of baby #2, and perhaps were just going to stick with 1? I had a miserable pregnancy, severe morning sickness, bad hip dysplasia, so much that I was put off work at only 4 1/2 months, then while I didn't become toxic I had really bad swelling & water retention. AFTER delivery I ended up developing post partum hypertension, was in bedrest in the hospital for a week, and on medication for bp for 6 weeks before it finally resolved. I was only 24 at the time, healthy, no prior bp problems... so I guess all those things combined, I'm really not sure I want to go through another pregnancy. We have a BB who's healthy, perhaps we should be content with that. Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm with you. I was nauseous around the clock for the first trimester (not that I was awake for half of it because I was so exhausted). I was pregnant through the summer with no air conditioning so I would curl up with ice packs just so I could get some sleep. I developed SPD around half way through my pregnancy which only got worse throughout my pregnancy. At 36 weeks I developed preeclampsia and was sent to the hospital straight from my appointment for bed rest. After a week I was induced. I ended up losing 1L of blood which kept me in the hospital a bit longer, but left me physically exhausted for about a month as my blood stores rebuilt. I borrowed a friend's sling just so I could get up and down the stairs without dropping the baby. Before having DD I thought I wanted 2 kids. Now I'm really not all that sure. Add on top of all of that all the hormones -- I was miserable. I try to be happy for those who loved being pregnant, but sometimes I just want to strangle them!

Hi ladies, I though I would give you another side of the story. Compared to you two, my pregnancy was a breeze with my son who is now 2. I loved being pregnant. Unfortunately, my son was a terrible newborn due to some health issues. He was allergic to milk and soy and would scream before we realized this. Then, when he was 10 days old, my husband had back surgery and couldn't help out at all for 6 weeks. I felt like a single mother but was also taking care of my hubby. My son ended up in the hospital at 7 weeks for a high fever accompanied by a febrile seizure. We went to several specialists before getting a diagnosis of hydronephrosis. To top it all of, he had a flat head and had to wear a helmet. So, the first few months of his life were terrible and I swore I would never have another baby. But, I really wanted him to have a sibling (I myself have a brother) and started to reminisce aout him as a baby. I am now 25 weeks pregnant with a little boy. I am not looking forward to the newborn stage, but my son is so wonderful that I know it will get better. How old are your children? It took me a good year and half to even begin to think about having a second.

DD will be 7 months in just a few more days. And I know they say that each pregnancy is (or can be) different, but I'm not sure I believe them! Going through a rough pregnancy when I already have a LO to look after would be too much for me.
