I am currently pregnant again and insurance has JUST made all the payments they're going to make for the procedure. So, we're just now making our own payments. I feel bad for racking up the bills, but it'll get taken care of. My hospital puts off the prenatal bills until after the baby is born. In the meantime, I'll be working on the last pregnancy's bills.

EMT-- I so hear ya!!!! And I thought my bill for my missed m/c was big, and I had labor induced and it took 21 hours to have him and then they still had to take me into the o.r. to get my placenta to come out! Ugh! All in all...everything cost about 4 grand for me and my son I lost at 14 1/2 weeks. I can't even imagine 20 grand! I know, it's hard, and I am still paying things off and we are ttc too! I wonder if I should wait until things are paid off, but I am 37 and don't want to wait. We will make payments until it's paid off... Insurance should be taking a big bite out of mine. I hope you are going to have the same. Good luck hun!

If you don't have insurance, you can get pregnancy Medicaid. If you are not longer pregnant and had to go to the ER and don't have insurance, you can apply for Emergency Medicaid that pays for that day at the ER (the hospital bill, dr's bill, blood work bill, ultrasound if you had one - everything). If you already went to the ER and didn't apply for Emergency Medicaid right then, or have any other bills from the obgyn etc, you can apply for a 3 month coverage by Medicaid, they will give you 3 months of free medical care plus cover any of your medical bills that you got within 3 months of applying. I know allll there is to know about it, so if you have any questions I'll be more than glad to help you out.

I meant *no longer pregnant. I had my daughter, Pregnancy Medicaid paid for the whole pregnancy/delivery ($17,000), and in the past 6 months I've had 2 miscarriages, visited ER both times, each bill racked up to $1,500, Emergency Medicaid paid for the first and I'm currently applying to get my second visit covered.

I had a miscarriage at the end of August and had to go to the ER once, that bill was over $2,500. Then I had a D&C and just got the hospital bill from that this week and it was almost $5,000. Luckily I have health insurance but it doesn't cover everything so I'm still going to owe about $1,000 or more for losing my little one. I live pay check to pay check pretty much so I figured if I can at least send them a small amount each month maybe they will not turn me in for collections. Good luck everyone!
