hi i am very confused i had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks the scan showed a fetal sac but no fetus. i passed the contents naturally overnight in the hospital. the consultant that saw me said he was going to send the fetal sac to a lab to confirm it was a pregnancy he said it was routine. but now i am so anxious and scared as to why they sent it off, my last miscarriage they did not tell me they were sending for tests . i asked my GP he first said its routine that they do this he then said the next day maybe they think its a molar pregnancy. this has sent me to paranoid over drive. i just want answers i want to grieve for my loss without all these unanswered questions.

androula, I'm so sorry you are going through this and after a loss too. Don't worry too much as it is pretty standard to test uterine contents after a miscarriage. In fact, I'd be more worried if they DIDN'T test. Then you never know why it happened. I pushed for testing on mine and was glad I did. I don't think the dr would have done it if I hadn't asked in most cases. If it is a blighted ovum and not a molar pregnancy, then those are fairly common and a pretty random occurrence (I know that doesn't help much, but for future trying to conceive it is a good thing)...good luck to you!
