Hello, I really need some good expereinced advice from many of you. About a week ago I found out I was in my early stages of pregnancy. That is what my blood test indicated but when I went in fora second test it was negative and I had miscarried. Me and my husband really want a baby and this is our first time trying we have been trying for the past two months. What I need to know is that ... how long should you wait before you start trying again? Does it change your ovulation cycle? Are miscarriages common? Will I be able to get pregnant again?

Oh Kori, I'm so very sorry about your baby. That is so devastating. I lost my baby too, at 9 weeks. How far along were you? In response to your questions - unless your doctor gave you a specific timeframe or a reason to wait, it is safe to begin trying again immediately (although many women like to wait until they've had 1 normal period, so they can give their bodies time to recuperate and also so that they can date a potential new pregnancy more accurately). There is no incresed risk of miscarriage when trying again right away than there is if you decide to wait for 1 or 3 or 6 months etc...miscarriage is unfortunatley very common, and it is estimated that about 1 in 5 (and some studies even estimate 1 in 4) pregnancies end in miscarriage. You most definitely will be able to get pregnant again. In fact, it is said that women who have had a miscarriage are more fertile for the first three months following. Many women go on to have succesful healthy pregnancies, your odds are very good! Take good care of yourself and keep me posted on how you are doing. Try to hang in there...I know how hard this time is right now. It will get better...

Kori, I am sorry to here about your loss. I just had a miscarriage, I was 6 weeks. I did not have a d/c. My doctor told me, we could try again right away. If I did not have my cycle back by 6-7 weeks. I was take a test and they would do an u/s to get my due date. I would say when you are emotionally and physically ready to try again. I did not know how common it was or understand the whole idea until I went through it myself. Stay strong. Baby dust :)

thanks Laura and Kim. I was about 3 weeks along. It was a very early pregnancy..... I did have the m/c Naturally because I thought i was having my period and was'nt pregnannt before the results came back but once i found out i was in my early stage of pregnancy I figured i had miscarried and thats what has been confirmed now. I know its common but still it hurts and its scary to even try again.... but i guess its true that you are the most fertile the three moths after the miscarriage?
