Too Old To Have First Baby

No worries about getting pregnant but how to have a healthy baby. The doctors have a "your just too old" att_tude and my bits are unused. I have had 3 miscarriages and heart broken. At 42 I am trying again but have lost faith, has anyone had a succesful first pregnancy at 42 ?

Both my Grandmother and one of my coworkers had babies at 43. While it wasn't their first (third child for each), they went on to have normal and healthy pregnancies. If you feel comfortable trying to have a baby, by all means ignore the doctor's att_tudes! More and more women are having "later in life" pregnancies as science and technology allow them to carry healthy pregnancies. The only thing I'd worry about, personally, was how I'd feel as the child got older. For example, if you're 42 now, you'd be 60 when your child graduated from high school. I'm not being negative or against older women having's just something to think about. Both my Grandmother and coworker have stated that it is/was hard handling a toddler at that age...that they weren't in their "youth". Heck, I'm 31 with a 2 year old and I feel ancient some days compared to her energy! Anyways, do what's in your heart. :)

Hi Kirsty. I am sorry for your losses. I know a lady who had a healthy baby at 55 yrs old, so you are not too old. I wish you all the luck in the world. If you want, you can join our thread of going for July/August babies part 2. We are a big group of women who are trying to get pregnant after a miscarriage and we support each other +++. I am sending you lots of baby dust. Take care.

I have a 2 year old and a 10 months old and I'm 41... Thinking of another one in a couple of years. Always wanted to have three. Age? There will be three of them in the world when we are too old.

Hi Kristy, my brother and SIL are trying for their first also, she is 42. They started seeing a fertility specialist, he ran some tests and found out that my brother has a low sperm count. They are not giving up hope though, good luck!!

My mother in law had my brother in law and my husband a year apart and she was 45 when my brother in law was born. My husband and I just had a miscarriage last month and when we told his Mom about it she told us she had one also, I guess just before his brother was born. Don't give up faith. You are only as old as you feel. I am sure you will get pregnant and do well raising your child. Don't listen to anyone telling you, you are too old for anything. At any age you are in a wait and see mode. Every woman can have miscarriages. You have to find that good egg, I guess. It will happen. Lots of baby dust to you and your husband.

I met a woman recently that gave me hope. She and her husband tried for years to have children and couldn't. They did all the tests, went to fertility specialists and she was told that she could and would never have children ever. At 39, she had her first son, who is about 2 1/2 now. She also had a daughter, who is now 6 months old. No problems with either pregnancy and no drugs or anything to help her conceive!!!! Best wishes ***
