TTC After Miscarriage S With Elevated FSH

Hi there~ I am extending a thread some of us have already started about TTC with elevated FSH so that others may be able to find us and join in. Here's my story. Since Jan 2006 I have been able to conceive both times I tried only to m/c both pregnancies at nearly the 6w mark . I thought it was a luteal phase defect (and that might have been a factor) but I found out after m/c #2 that I have a CD3 FSH of 11.2. Right now, I am doing acupuncture and trying to stay positive while we keep ttc (my luteal phase is longer now due to these treatments). I am also working to determine a contingency plan if I am not sucessfully pg in the next 2-3 months. I have not seen an RE yet, and I have not had much other testing to date, but expect to talke with an RE in the next month. There are a few of us out here who have had multiple m/c and then found out we had elevated FSH numbers. Now we are grappling with what this means and trying to keep our hope alive. This a link designed to support, help, inform and share with others in the same boat. Please feel free to share any information, success stories, insights, or support you might have to offer, we welcome you. Good luck and baby dust!

Kristine, what day is your appt. with the acupuncturist? I will be interested to hear where your "weaknesses" are. I find it interesting since blood flow is a HUGE part of acupuncture and the baby aspirin is supposed to help that blood flow. I can tell you my weaknesses once you go because they'll make more sense to you then, but I do have blood stasis and kidney issues, and both of those support blood flow (I have VERY poor circulation, always have). So...I can't wait to see how it goes!

Kristine - June 5

Morrison, My appt. is tomorrow at 4:30. How will he know my weaknesses? What are your kidney issues? I was a kidney donor to my mother in 1999 but they say it has no bearing on pregnancy...................For new readers to this forum, I am 34 and have had 3 consecutive m/c's, all around 7 weeks. Always saw heartbeats but they were on the low side. Took baby aspirin and progesterone for the 3rd but still lost it. I have had tons of bloodwork and a sonohysterogram,,,,,all came back normal with the exception of the FSH level which was 13 on Day 10 of the Clomid Challenge test. My RE suggested Acupuncture and we are praying for a good egg this time.

Hi Kristine - That's neat that you were a kidney donor to your mother. And yes, it should have no bearing on pregnancy. I was going to wait to say anything about my "weakneses" because I didn't want to confuse you. Here is a VERY rudimentary explaination of acupuncture. Everything is based on the flow of energy (life) in your body, and that energy flows along meridian pathways. Each meridian represents a major organ or system in your body (kidney, liver, heart, spleen) and blockage to those flows represents different issues in your body. Through a series of questions (and other diagnostics), an acupuncturist can determine which flows are weak and how that is affecting you. So, what they would call a Liver Chi weakness isn't liver, but more so with energy pathway that is governed by that organ. Ultimately, it has to do with flow and balance. I, for example, have problems with blood circulation, which could affect how much blood is getting to my uterus. If we have egg problems, we need EVERYTHING else to be in line so that when we DO get that good egg, we are ready for it! You will understand more after your appt. I am very excited to see what he/she says. I still don't think 13 is off the roof, so I will be interested to hear what they say. I am so glad you are going! Let me know how it goes. Karen, I hope you are doing well today. Let me know if you end up making an appt as well. I am OK...but I have to quit my job today as I got another one on Friday. I always hate that, but it must be done. I'll be better by the end of the day.

Kristine - June 5

Thanks. I have heard about meridians at Reiki. The dilemma now is should we have waited to ttc this weekend? I want it to be in God's hands so we went with it. I'll be going to Acupuncture after the fact........................Congrats on your new job!

Hey guys, congrats on your new job Morrison that's great. I have not made an appt. with the accupuncturist yet. I will though. It sounds so interesting to me. Curious, is it painful? I too am praying that we have a good egg this time. There has to be some left right? It boils down to luck. I feel so much better today, more hopeful. I am exercising again. I did not exercise the last 2 pregnancies b/c I was afraid and ended up gaining 15lbs. This time I decided I am going to exercise b/c I want to feel good about myself. I pray everynigh and wear a medal of St. Gerard. There's not much left to do. I hope you guys are having a great day!

Kristine - Yep, same thing as reiki pretty much.. and, it's never too late. The acupuncture can help with both the follicular and the luteal phase, so if you ARE pg...then it can still be good. If, for some reason, you aren't, then you will be in great shape for next time around. I am going to give it two months and then see where I land. Karen - you sound pretty good today. I totally understand the weight thing. I have had a hell of a time with the weight I gained when we got pg both times too. Grrr. Now, I am just walking daily, trying to get back on my feet. My body feels kind of old...and achy. I think I am just worn down...and yardwork doesn't help. I can't believe I used to actually go RUNNING! Agh. And yes, there HAVE to be some good eggs left. It might just take us longer to get everything into place.

karen goode - June 5

Tell me about it. I used to run 10 miles a day. Not anymore, I am so out of shape and achy as well. I can only walk. It's amazing what a toll these miscarriages took on my body. I have a concern. I don't want to be gross but Iam worried regarding cervical mucus. I noticed that since my 2 mc it is hardly noticeable. I used to always know when I was ovultating by it now I have no idea b/c I hardly have any. I don't know if it's b/c of my FSH level but I am worried about it. My RE feels we don't need a ovulation kit and feels we have a 90% chance of getting preg. b/c of our previous success. Has your body changed at all?

Morrison1 - June 5

Yep, it definitely has. I had been doing pilates, too, but decided to stop because I just wasn't convinced there wasn't a tie between that and my m/c, so I quit. I have gained weight and definitely feel stiff and sore a lot. My body is crampier around O time, and today, for example I had some pinkish tinged cm (today is CD9 and I have never had that before that I can remember). I am also more hyper-sensitive to things, too, which doesn't help. I still have my ewcm, but I also temp and do opks to determine o. We also use preseed, a lubricant that is supposed to mimic hospitable cm...it's awesome. So, your RE thinks you won't have trouble getting pg, but maintaining it, is that right? We have gotten pg very easily as well, which is good given all of our situations...

Kristine - June 5

I did notice the CM this weekend but I also had alot of discomfort in my lower left pelvic area. Could it be ovary pain? I never had that before. ............I also gained close to 10 pounds this past year. I have been walking almost every day for at least 30 minutes. Makes me feel good. :-)

Morrison1 - June 5

Kristine - my ob said it can be normal for ovulation to become more noticible/uncomfortable after m/c...or for your cycle to change. I have noticed that same thing. Seems unfair, doesn't it?

karen goode - June 5

Kristine the pain you are experiencing is normal your body is getting ready to ovulate. I have always felt pain in that region when I was ovulating. THe only thing now is that I am achy but I think it is b/c of the HSG i had wed. I am still sore. I don't understand why I hardly have any cm. I used to go by when ttc.

Morrison1 - June 5

Hey, did either of your REs tell you how quickly the FSH number rises? I meant to ask my doc and now I have not been able to get a hold of her. I was just curious. Kristine - how was the acupuncture??!!

karen goode - June 6

No Morrison my RE did not tell me and I forgot to ask. We will see this month. If I don't get preg. then he will repeat the FSH>

Morrison1 - June 6

KAREN - I am guessing the rate at which levels rise depends a little on the person, but who knows. Are you ttc right now Karen? We are starting tonight, which is CD10 for me, and I will be doing opks as well. I usually ovulate on the 14th, so I would guess that won't be different this month. We are also using preseed. Did I mention that? If you are having less CM than normal, you might want to look into it. You can order it online, but I also found one pharmacy in our area that carries it, so we just get it there. It is special lubricant that mimics hospitable cm and actually HELPS the sperm stay around longer. Here is a link to the site that give you pharmacy outlets in your area : http://www.ingfertility.com/providers.html So, I would check it out since you are a bit concerned about cm. If you get it today, it won't be too late. And, we only use this when we are ttc. KRISTINE - How was your appt?

Kristine - June 6

I go today at 4:30. What should I wear and should I eat beforehand? And no my RE did not tell me how fast it rises and frankly, I'm afraid to know the answer.
