My husband had a vasectomy 3 years ago. We have 4 children and were finished! I am 8 days late. I have taken 1 ept test which is positive and 2 equate ept - both negative. Is there a chance I could be pregnant even though he had a vasectomy? I am never late, the only symtom I am showing of pregnancy is frequent urination & increased appet_tie. I have a doctor's appt. in 2 days and the suspense is killing me - please let me know if you have experienced what I am!

Hi Michelle, here in the UK when a man has a vasectomy he has to have two consecutive s____n a___lysis in which no sperm are seen, i know this because its my job to do those s____n a___lysis. in the course of my job, i have come across a few forms labeled "post vasectomy 6 months plus ago, wife now pregnant, please provide s____n a___lysis" , so what i am trying, (probably badly) to say is if your husband has not had his follow up appointments to confirm he is no longer ejactulating sperm, then there is every chance you could be pregnant. if he has been checked and confirmed as having had a sucessful vasectomy then the likely hood is slim, esepcailly after three years. in addittion i have come across one or two cases where after testing clear, the patient later came back with sperm being produced, an infection had caused created a new route for the sperm to get from the testis into the tubes. it can take up to 6 months to completely flush out any remaining sperm within the tubes. I hope this helps. please also bear in mind one cse exactly like your that we had in, where the husband had a vasectomy and we were unable to find any sperm in his sample although his wife was pregnant, did indeed turn out to be his baby with DNA testing. it just shows it really does only take one, and when the doctor is fishing around in there looking for two tubes, the number of times one tube gets cut twice and the other missed is suprising. good luck i hope the outcome is whatever you wish it to be.
