Found these, very unusual but they do happen. From thread - Negative Blood Test And Period But Still Pregnant page 36 DisneyLover - June 2nd, 2009 11:35 AM "..................who say you can't have your period while pregnant, that is not true. I understand that this is what all of the medical doctors say, and I believed it too until I learned that there had been a case of it in my own family. My aunt not only had her period her entire pregnancy, but she also did actually ovulate during pregnancy. We know this because she was already several months pregnant with the first child when she became pregnant with the second one months later. As a result, the babies were born as twins, but one was actually several months premature and had to be sent to the NICU. I realize that it is hard for people to understand things outside the norm, but the truth is they do happen................" pAGE 22 Casey22 - September 19th, 2007 7:41 PM "When my mom was pregnant with my brother she still had her periods the whole way through. It wasn't until one day she felt something kick her in her stomach that she took a hpt and it came out negative. She believed it since she still had her periods and wasn't having any symptoms. She continued to feel the kicking so she went to the doctor they gave her a blood test came out negative. By that time she said something was wrong then because something is kicking her hard. They did an ultrasound still nothing. Then even though you're not supposed to they did an xray and discovered she was 7 months pregnant. She was carrying him in her back as they say. My cousin was missing her periods and went to get a blood test done but that came back negative so after missing 2 more periods she went back to the doctor and by that time I believe she was around 3 or 4 months pregnant and it just then came out positive. Now I'm having all the cla__sic symptoms of being pregnant and even some that I didn't know were symptoms but the tests keep coming out negative. So I'm going to get an ultrasound done. Basically the tests can be wrong my family is living proof of that. I would say go and get a physical exam done by a doctor."

Good to know. From thread - Missed Period But Negative Home Pregnancy Test page 3 - 4 unknown - June 9th, 2005 3:04 AM "i went to the doctor and took a blood test it came out neg then did an ultrasound and there was nothing but then they checked my tube guess what was there a baby so all of u are having neg signs ask to check ur tubes" page 5 Morgan - June 17th, 2005 2:42 PM "To Heyni: Yes, when stopping birth control it can take up to 6 months for your cycle to go back to normal. Especially if you stopped in the middle of a pack of birth control. Wait 1-2 weeks and take another HPT, if negative wait another 1-2 weeks and take another HPT. If after a month you still have no period and are getting negative results, go see a doctor. More then likely you're fine, but there are other medical problems that can make you not have a period. Also, if you do go to the doctor's office it is VERY important that you have the doctor perform an ultrasound, there is a chance of an ectopic pregnancy (where the fertalized egg has implanted in the fallopian tube) which can potentially be dangerous. In many cases of an ectopic pregnancy you will get a negative result on HPT's an ultrasound can clear this up. If you do have an ectopic pregnancy it is safe for the doctor to move it to the uterus, but this has to happen as soon as possible. Good luck."

Can't really find any cases online of an ectopic pregnancy being moved to uterus. More from thread - Missed Period But Negative Home Pregnancy Test page 9 melissa - June 27th, 2005 8:08 AM i have been in the same boat as yall..i have not had a peroid since may 2 and im VERY regular... i have had four hpt all neg.. and two blood test that were neg.. i have been reading these posts for weeks..we too have been trying to get pregnant for one year ... i have finally gotten to the doc and he thinks my thyroid is over active (i have also dropped 25lbs in three month which is NOT normal for me at all) so the same advice as the lady before ... get your thyroid checked.... GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!! page 10 Fauna - June 29th, 2005 10:32 AM I just wanted to say to you all that I am in the same boat right now, Im a few days late neg hpt. But also I didnt have a period for about nine months last year and I went to the doctor because I also had swollen b___sts with milk. They did tests and found out I had a pituitary tumor in my head and it was causing the nilk and the missed period and also weight gain etc. So maybe some of you should go to the doctor and bring this up. Its very common and very treatable. I am on meds for it now and have a regular period. If you dont have a period because of a pituitary tumor its because it makes you infertile, so if you guys want to have baby's get this checked out so you can get on the meds and be fertile again. Just a thought page 19 Renee - August 25th, 2005 9:39 A "My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 3 months. Ever since I gave birth to my stillborn son at 9 months gestation... I have been using a ovulation predictor kit and it showed I was going to ovulate when I should've, and Dr. took blood and it showed I was going to ovulate normally. So this month I really had a good feeling that we got it right. I ovulated on the 6th of August... on the 18th I got a negative urine test at the Dr. my period was due until the 20th though. so when my period didn't come (never been anything but normal and on time) I took two clear blue easy's on the 21st. BOTH came up positive. Went to the Dr. yesterday and had a urine test to confirm the pregnancy, it came up negative. I am totally confused, so on the way home from the Dr., stopped and bought a fact plus pregnancy test. IT CAME UP POSITIVE!!! How can this be? I have lots of pregnancy syptoms: my b___sts feel fuller, constant need to pee, headaches, white discharge, increased appet_te and naseousness in the morning. The Dr. took blood yesterday so we can know for sure but I am still waiting for the test results to come back. What could possibly cause 3 HPT's to come back positive if I am not preggo? The Dr. office says that their tests are very sensitive. I am 5 days pa__sed my period, it shouldv'e come up positive if I was pregnant. Has anyone ever had this happen to them or heard of this? I have never had such confusion with pregnancy tests before." continued - Renee - August 25th, 2005 5:57 PM "This one will really throw you guys for a loop. Got the results back from my blood test from yesterday and it was 9. 9 is not a 100% indication of pregnancy, it should've been higher than that, so they told me to come back in today and get more blood to see whether or not it's coming up or down. Now it's at 4. After all this my period finally starts today, which I originally thought was a miscarriage." ......................" He says that what happened is that initially the sperm fertilized my egg, but that they just never implanted in my uterus, for that small time I was technically pregnant the way that my body saw it which would be the reason for the syptoms I was having. Weird huh? It' s better this way than if I had a miscarriage, at least I know me and hubby got our act together fertility wise. anyways, just wanted to share this info with you because my Dr. says that this actually happens a lot it's just that to someone who isn't "trying" to conceive and paying as close attention to their cycles as I am, it might go unnoticed. Wish me luck for next month!!" From thread - Negative Blood Test And Period But Still Pregnant page 12 in reply to Laura - April 25th, 2005 9:11 AM "I can't answer the rest of your questions, but, the awful pain on your right side could possibly be your gall bladder. When I was pg with my daughter, I had that pain for the entire pregnancy-- not to mention hyperemesis (constant vomiting) that landed me in the hospital. After DD's birth, I had the gallbladder removed, and haven't had any trouble since then. I know there are many things that can cause pains, but, I felt I should tell you about my similar problem in hopes that it might help you."

Some answers from thread - Missed Period But Negative Home Pregnancy Test page 35 Txffwife - February 28th, 2007 1:12AM "Jackie5764...I have a corpus luteum cyst on my right ovary that has delayed my af and given me every pg symptom there is. The reason is because this type of cyst contains progesterone and is supposed to dissolve if you do not conceive. I didn't conceive in Jan, but it's still hanging around. No, it is not all in your head!!! Women experience these symptoms all the time because right after you ovulate, this type of cyst forms on the ovary in order to provide prog. for the baby...so when women have all these symptoms, but end up getting af, they are still experiencing pg symptoms because of that progesterone. Anyhow, I'm not sure if this will help you, buy I know that you can also ovulate without your af, just pay attention to your body (just like you did!). Good luck!!" page 38 LauraLynn - June 26th, 2007 8:39 AM "Well, I'm not pregnant (of course). Still no period, so I'm thinking I just skipped a cycle. This is so unfair. Doctor said that weight loss (or weight gain) along with with stress can cause cycles to be off. Also found out estrogen is stored in fat cells, so if you're overweight this can mess up your periods. ..........." continued LauraLynn - June 28th, 2007 12:27 PM "I went to the doctor after being almost three weeks late. I'm not pregnant. According to the fertility and obgyn doctor I saw yesterday I am not ovulating (and maybe never ever have been). Also I was told my uterus is too small (only 7 cm). This is another reason the doctor suspects I have never had an ovulation cycle. That and the fact I didn't start have periods until I was 14 (which is late). I was told my hypothalamus does not send signals to my ovaries to release eggs (I produce them but never release them). This can be fixed (so the doctors tell me). I'm on a really strict diet now (they've cut off all sugar, caffeine and carbs completely). They think weight loss might get me ovulating. If that doesn't work they'll put me on clomid (a drug to stimulate ovulation)." continued LauraLynn - July 2nd, 2007 9:11 AM "OK. AF started on June 30, only four weeks late. I know this is because there's too much stuff stored up and has to come out, not because I ovulated (because I didn't). The doctor told me I had not. I'm about 30 lbs overweight, so my doctor thinks losing the weight will help. I hope so. I just want to be functioning properly at this point. For all you ladies that are missing periods but are not pregnant--do you carry most of your weight around the middle? If so have a blood check to see if your insulin levels are normal. If there is too much insulin in your blood, you might have a condition called insulin resistance, where you body produces too much insulin. That keeps you from ovulating. I've been diagnosed with this also. Weight loss, exercise and a healthy diet can get rid of this though. Your body can heal from it, but it's important to take care of it now because if left untreated it can cause other health problems (diabetes, heart disease, etc)."

Birth control awareness, from thread Missed Period But Negative Home Pregnancy Test page 18 Morgan - August 18th, 2005 12:58 PM ".................... the most common treatments for an ectopic pregnancy are surgery removal, or a shot to dissolve the pregnancy. About 50 women a year die from ectopic pregnancies (according to advancedfertility" website "). That is why it is so important that you get checked if you think you might be pregnant and are getting negative test results. I got negative test results for nearly 1.5 months. My doctor convinced me this was because my period was irregular due to all of the hormonal birth control that I had been on over the last 2 years. I had stopped hormonal birth control in the beginning of May, and my period was 3 weeks late, but it was a VERY light period. In June I didn't get one. I took tests at home and at my doctors, all showed negative. My doctor finally suggested an IUD for birth control, and they are either very low does hormones or none at all. I agreed, and had an IUD put in. 5 weeks after that date, I had a miscarriage. I was approximately 2-3 months along at that point, and it is thought that the IUD aborted the pregnancy. Had the doctor to do an ultrasound to be sure, this situation wouldn't have happened, and I would be 3 months pregnant. I really feel that you know your body better then anyone. I have a 2 and a half year old son, I know what it feels like to be pregnant, but the doctor didn't believe me, and this is the situation I am in. So my advice to you ladies, if you're not getting a decent answer go to a bette doctor. Also, if you can, see a midwife, they are MUCH more likely to sit down and discuss everything with you, and look at everything rather then only what medical tests can prove." continued page 20 - 21 Morgan to Amira - August 30th, 2005 4:18 PM "....................... When I lost my baby I was about 12-14 weeks along, and my blood tests were negative, as well as many urine tests. Even 4 hours after loosing the baby the blood test showed the hormone level in my blood at less then 5. And that is too low for a urine test to pick up and too low for a doctor to consider a positive pregnancy result. I really feel that you know your body better then anyone else, even a doctor. Doctors rely on tests that are not 100% accurate. Mistakes are made. If you are aware of your cycle and your body, there is no reason for you not to know you are pregnant, even with negative results. But be aware that many women who have ectopic pregnancies show negative results, so be careful!" page 44 modia - February 12th, 2009 9:18 AM "Hi everyone,am new here.I missed my periods for 2 months+ last year ,did 6 preg test all negative, though i felt very funny;crazy hunger, bloated, cramps, sore b___sts and all.Went to a general doc on the 1st of september last year and he did a preg test: & it was bfn(started thinking otherwise).Suggested i take provera to bring on my period(stupidly agreed)Took it but AF NEVER came .Decided to see a gynea and booked me on the 20th of same month. He did a scan and found that we were 9 WEEKS pregnant. Our beautiful son is now 9months(thank God the Provera didn't affect him)We are all diff and sometimes its best to follow your instincts and not wat a man-made stick tells you.Iam 2weeks late, the tests give me a BFN but my body tells me BFP...Goodluck all" It can take a while to get that BFP page 42 marimamma - November 27th, 2008 10:34 AM "I was in a similar situation. November 4th was my expected period date. When I did not get my period I started to think i might be pregnant. I took a home test 4 days after, 8 days after and 10 days after all negative. I started getting headaches and lower back pain along with period cramping and 12 days after another negative home test. I went to the doctors and got a blood test and it was negative. I told him I had cramping and other minor symptoms (but not nearly as strong of the symptoms i had last pregnancy) and he sent me for an ultrasound that showed no signs of pregnancty (but it was too early to detect). I started getting other pregnancy symptoms of nausia and my clothes stopped fitting me (I showed early in my first pregnancy too) and took another home test (18 days after) that turned out negative. 20 days after I still didnt get my period and took another home test that was positive! I received another blood test that was positive as well and the hormone levels show I am 3 weeks pregnant (which is inaccurate). For everyone who hopes for pregnancy good luck and TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!!!!!"

SO THEY SAID IT COULDN'T BE. More Positive + posts for those who have questions about BFP testing times. Even longer wait for the BFP, from thread - Missed Period But Negative Home Pregnancy Test page 48 DownbutnotOUT - May 14th, 2009 11:12 PM "Hi I just thought I would tell you ladies a little story about my 1st pregnancy. I used to have my period once every 4 months for 2 days (yes every 4 months for 2 days). Well about a month after my last period I started getting very sick all of a sudden, I went to the doctor's for pregnancy test blood and urine and they both came up negative. Meanwhile my unknown sickness plagued me for weeks and I regularly had pregnancy tests threw my doctor (blood and urine) all kept coming up negative. I even commented and I quote "I feel like there is something inside me!" but they never gave me a u/s, I think because all the tests kept coming up negative. Anyway I finally got my BFP on a urine test, threw my doctor, and was instantly scheduled for a u/s because of the fact that it hadn't been 4 months since my last period and it was impossible to tell by my last period how far along I was. I even had my dr. examine my tummy and tell me that he couldn't feel a bump and I couldn't be more than 13 weeks. Well when I got my ultrasound a week later you can imagine my surprise to see my 15 1/2 week baby. Yes that's right I was 14 1/2 weeks along before I got a + HPT test. So with this I say anything is possible and if you feel like you are pregnant and tests are comming up - ask for a u/s to find out for sure. Good luck to you ladies." page 54 Sweet_momi - June 30th, 2009 3:40 PM "Hi there, if you think you are pregnant, go with your instincts. My period was 2 months late before my HPT came up possitive, i even did 2 blood tests and they were both negative. My last period was april 24th, I didnt get a posstive test until June 12... and im still pregnant.. I must have done 15 tests in 2 months, and still waiting for that period to show up... And the dr kept telling me that blood is always acurate.. Well I was soo happy to tell my dr. I TOLD YOU SO!! this is my third pregnancy, i know what being pregnant feels like, and you just know.. Its your body.. So dont give up yet until you get an ultrasound done and it shows there is a baby or there isnt.. or you get your period.. even then, id still ask for an ultrasound as some ppl do get there periods throughout." Just one the reasons of getting a BFP + and BFN - in the same pregnancy page 49 mommalimond - May 18th, 2009 1:05 AM "hey all I am in the same boat as all of you. I haven't had a period since march 31st... and here it is May 18th. I have taken 5 pg tests, had 4 negative and 1 that had a spotty sign in that had 3/4 of a plus sign.... so yeah...I have gone through this torture before. When I was pregnant with my son, who is 16 months old, i had a positive test and then many negative tests in the beginning. Then i had a "period" so i thought that i either wasnt pregnant to begin with or i miscarried... then i got no period after that so i went to the local health dept. and come to find out i was 4 months prego... and when i went to the doctor to follow up i found out that my son was supposed to be a twin but we lost it. so yeah... I am hoping to find out soon whether or not i am expecting baby number 4... I am anxiously waiting to see the dr." page 55 frankandme - August 12th, 2009 2:00 AM "So, the plot thickens! I wrote earlier that I had missed my period...last period was june 6th. I felt preggo probably by the first weekend of July. took a blood test and two pee tests at planned parenthood with all negative. Still the symptoms increased to the point that I have been awake at night googling false pregnancy! I have been believing that I am nuts. I went to my yearly girl exam at my OB on July 21st, and not only did his exam say NEGATIVE but the blood test said negative as well. From that point, I cut my husband off from all the babymaking because I told him it was breaking my heart to keep thinking and feeling pregnant when I wasn't and I had to wait to find a way to convince my body it is not pregnant. Fast forward to August 3rd. On a WHIM, I took my last pee test. POSITIVE! and not just kind of positive, we're talking bright blue lines---two of them! I immediately called my OB to find out what the heck is going on...she ordered a blood test, which also came out POSITIVE!!!! So, this whole time I have not been crazy! I have an ultrasound in one week to date the baby, and I am guessing 8 weeks next week. We'll see!!!!!" page 56 frankandme - August 18th, 2009 9:23 PM "colleeen, dr's did the same thing to me! at planned parenthood and my gyno. I even had a full female yearly exam on the 21st of july, where they said not only am I not pregnant, but I should be starting my period any day! and they did a blood test that was negative! But miraculously not even 10 days later, I peed a positive pregnancy test! and, I hadn't had s_x in weeks! So there was no way that I wasn't pregnant when I saw the dr. They looked at me and asked me if I needed xanax to calm me down because I told them I was freaking out that I was having all these symptoms......."

An explanation for some of the negative tests for pregnancy many of us with possible symptoms have been getting from thead - Negative Blood Test & Botched Ultrasound But Feel Kicks page 22 Zonkatje - June 19th, 2006 5:54 PM "......... Pregnancy tests (home, urine and blood) use mouse antibodies to bind to hCG. Unfortunately - many people develop anti mouse antibodies or other interfering antibodies that bind to the mouse antibodies instead of the hCG, which results in a false positive or false negative. Anyone who is gluten sensitive, has animals, works with animals, IBS, Rheumatoid Factor, a blood transfusion, vaccinations, taken drugs derived from animals, eaten unwashed fruit or vegatables, taken nutritional supplements - especially Vitamin B12, etc... can develop interfering antibodies that will skew an immunoa__say (which is a pregnancy test) and the hormone, chemical, etc... will not bind to the mouse antibodies....."

This oversite is probably true for most of us when taking those hpts, from thread - 7 Weeks Late: Still Negative Hpt's. Page 5 Connie - April 8th, 2005 2:18 PM "Hey, I was looking up the Hook Effect and found this on an ICON 25hCG pregnancy test site. The information was interesting and may effect some of your test results. Q: Is there any “hook” effect? If so, at what level of hCG? If not, what is the highest level of hCG tested? A: The product provides the correct result up to 500,000 mIU hCG/mL. Q: What part of the molecule is detected? A: The product detects intact hCG. Q: When is the best time of day to obtain a urine specimen for testing? A: Urine specimens collected at any time of day may be used on ICON® 25 hCG tests. However, a first morning urine specimen is preferred if possible as it usually contains the highest concentration of hCG. Q: If the test is used prior to the equilibration of the specimen and test to room temperature, is the result reliable? A: No. The test and the specimen must equilibrate to room temperature (15 to 30° C) prior to testing. Q: If too much or not enough of the specimen sample was added, is the result still reliable? A: No, an incorrect amount of specimen sample can affect the test result. It should be repeated with a new test and the appropriate amount of sample. These last 2 questions and answers really interested me. I don't know that we all have let our specimin and our test come to the same temp. before testing. Could be a factor, hmmm?"

Even the ultrasound is really only as good as its interpretation, from thread - 7 Weeks Late: Still Negative Hpt's. page 42-43 Clarissa23 - May 20th, 2006 1:37 PM "hi to all...i know how all of you are feeling...i have 3 kids all of whom i did not get a positive urine or blood test until i was at least 10 weeks along...my 3rd child was finally found at 20 wks by ultrasound after being told by countless doctors and even one u/s tech that i was not pregnant. the u/s tech said i had a water cyst when i was infact 5 weeks pregnant. i think i am pregnant with my 4th and am not looking forward to all the docs thinking i am crazy again" If you decide to go to your/new medical professional, maybe you could try this to get better answers and results to your problems. pqge 31 anna - December 3rd, 2005 5:46 PM "Hey ladies...just a tip from someone who works in healthcare if you feel like your doctors are not taking you seriously...especially male doctors. If you go in telling them that you suspect you are pregnant, alot of them have this preconception that you are just hoping that you are pregnant and you want them to tell you that you are. Try going in and telling them that your symptoms and that you took an hpt and it came back negative (if it did), so you've come to the conclusion that you are suffering from a hormonal imbalance or thyroid problem and that you want a FULL LAB WORKUP...including blood pregnancy test. Remember to put your foot down and DO NOT BE PASSIVE! These doctors are here to take care of YOU, and they make their salaries from YOU!"
