Hi, I'm 39 and due on May 20th. I'm one of those women who "gave up" trying to get pregnant after almost 3 years of temping, charting, clomid and a failed IUI. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Here I am pregnant for the second time (I had a misscarriage at 6+ weeks in December) and it was definitely unexpected. I am scared, excited, nervous and sometimes think this was all a big mistake - maybe because of the fear.... Anyone out there who can relate?

Hi dora belle. I'm forty and pregnant with my second. I can relate to your nervousness though. I had some failed pregnancies before my first and I was very scared for awhile. However everything turned about great with my first and being a Mom is wonderful.

Hi Karyn, Thanks for your response. Did you go through amnio the first time? That really seems scary - if the results aren't good. When are you due with #2?

dora belle- I've gone through CVS, which is similar to the amino. That procedure is done early on (weeks 10-12) and contains genetics results. Statistically speaking the miscarriage risk is slightly higher than the amino but I've never had any problems. I live in a big city and went to a specialist for the test. Just knowing that the baby has no major genetic issue is a huge relief in my mind and helped me not to worry during the rest of the pregnancy. We did have one bad result on my very first pregnancy (trisomy 13), which was tough to deal with. However It was better knowing up front and we chose to do what was best for the child. My next two pregnancies results were perfect. As for my due date, it's March 27th. When are you due?

Hi dora belle, my history sounds a bit like yours. I have a 4 year old, and have been trying for 3 years to have another. I too, had a miscarriage last year, and was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Got pregnant this summer by a miracle I believe, and have been walking on pins and needles since. I just want everything to be ok, like you and it seems that something new just pops up to stress me . I had my 19 week scan last week that showed the baby is doing very well, except it has two echogenic spots on the heart which is a soft marker for downs. I am so stressed. All my tests, the nuch test, bloodwork, prior ultrasounds came out so good for my age, that I really was shocked with this news. So I understand how you feel. all I can say is to keep your faith. take one day at a time and stay positive. I know , I should take my own advice. Its easier said than done. Good luck, and stay in touch!

Hi - I am 41 and ttc my first child. I've had 2 unsuccessful IUI's with clomid and found out yesterday that my FSH was at 13, up from 11.5. I am starting to feel desperate and so depressed. Any suggestions or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!
