Amniotic Fluid Question Please Help Me

Im from the Uk, I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks, and then another at 11, this was my third at 17 weeks for the amnio testing. The first two ultrasounds everything was fine no problems in fact if it hadn't been for me wanting an amnio I wouldn't have had a scan unitl 20 weeks. They have told me nothing about what they will do if the fluid is still low, but after researching it I know that there is little/no hope if the fluid is still low. I did try to bring the ultrasound forward when I rang the midwife this morning but they said they couldn't and it would be better for me to wait. All I can think though is if it is bad news then the futher the pregnancy goes along tjhe harder it will be on us both to terminate, I'm trying not to think that way but there's every chance that could be the outcome.

JENZ - thats the only reason we found out too by going for our testing if not we would have found out at 20 weeks and it would have been alot worse i beleive you cant even terminate anymore at that week and would actually have to go in to labor. Also the reason the u/s went great at those stages because the baby hadnt developed the organs yet. My u/s went great then too and then out of nowhere it happened. But i agree with you then you will be like 19 weeks then. I dont know i guess you dont have any choices on one hand you dont want to make any harsh decisions that you cant reverse but on the other han d if things arent going to change you are in still in a position to make a decision. I feel so bad for you i so understand where you are coming from its just an awful place to be. I am glad you have someone to talk to i know its not a pleasant thing to discuss and i havent really said anything optimistic but it does help when you can relate to someone who experienced the same thing. Oh by the way i from the US i live in Florida.

JENZ - one more thing what happened to us is a complete FLUKE its extremely rare and it WILL NOT happen again. All my doctors had rea__sured me and my DH of that. It occurs in like 4% of pregnancies there is no reason why it did happen. It just does. That was our biggest fear when we got pregnant again in June my doctors told me over and over its like getting struck my lightening twice it just doesnt happen so i want you to know that God forbid this pregnancy doesnt continue that you will be able to sucessfully get pregnant again and not ever have to deal with this happening. Its not heritary either. Trust me i had so many questions for all my doctors and after we terminated all my blood work came back completely normal no problems whatsover with the me or my DH. It just happened.

I love Florida might have something to do with Disney World, and also the beaches in Clear water, we were there over New Year and it was wonderful to sit on the beach in December with lovely sunshine. Its good to talk to someone who has been through the same thing, although I hope I'm not bringing back bad memories for you, you must be so happy now though with a baby on the way. The worst thing about this is that we have been trying for a baby for 3 years and had more or less given up hope of conceiving naturally until this happened out of the blue and now I think what a cruel trick to take it away from us so early, just when we were getting to the stage of where we were telling family, friends and work colleagues. I know there are lots of people that go through and are going through the same thing that will ask those same questions.
