Hey, I was just wondering if anybody else already knows for sure that they will have to be induced. I just found out yesterday that I will have to be induced again. This time around between 38 to 39 weeks (Was induced at 37 weeks with my daughter). I was really disappointed because I was induced with my daughter and I really wanted to go into labor naturally this time.

I am 14 weeks 1 day with our second child, and will be induced at 39 weeks. I chose to be though. I was induced with my daughter and felt very secure with everything. I am a planner and I like to know the sequence of events. Being enduced allows me that. Some may say they disagree, but I don't care. I know the baby will be fully developed and my first experience was so great that I am very comfortable with the idea. I am opposite to you in that, I don't want to go into labor on my own. It terrifies me. The last thing I want is to be at home in pain until my contractions are 5 minutes apart. My OB okays the epidural at 3-4 cm. With my first I got my epidural before I even had any pain, and I was so greatful. Granted there was still pain, but it was totally manageable and I could feel plenty to push effectively. Although I was induced, when I got to labor and delivery and they hooked me up to the monitors I was already contracting, even before the pitocin. My OB said that I wouldn't have made it another 24 hours. Anyway, my point is, don't feel disappointed, no matter how you deliver it doesn't make you more or less of a woman. Anyway your baby comes out is a feat in and of itself.

Why do you need to be induced again? Does your doctor have a reason? I just found out a friend of mine has a doctor who has a policy of inducing two weeks early with ALL his patients. That just sounds obsurd to me!

mjvdec01- Thanks :o) my induction with my daughter went really great. I was in labor for 3 hours 45 minutes and pushed for 20 minutes and I didn't need the epidural. So it's not that I didn't like the induction experience... I don't know, I just kind of always wanted that feeling of spontanaeity that comes with going into labor on my own. I always liked hearing stories from my mom about how she woke up in the morning and was in labor and she took a shower and did the dishes and took my brother to the babysitter and then went to the hospital and gave birth to me a half an hour later, I kind of wanted to have a story to tell besides "well, I went in and they hooked me up to pitocin and it made me have contractions". Oh well, we don't always get what we wants, lol.

chattykathy- yes, there's a reason. I had a pulmonary embolism after my daughter was born and in order to prevent another one I have to be on blood thinners during my pregnancy. My husband has to give me two shots a day in the belly. They have to make sure I'm off the blood thinners 24 hours before I go into labor otherwise I could hemmorage and possibly die from it and also if I were to want the epidural I could not have it because it would cause bleeding around the spinal cord, which, I guess could also kill me or paraluze me or something. I can only be off of the blood thinners for a very short amount of time and then i have to go right back on them again after delivery to prevent another pulmonary embolism.

I don't know for sure but its a strong possibility for me since my last child was 9 pounds 4 oz the doctor thinks I wil have a 10 pound plus baby which is why I might be induced at 38 to 39 weeks I was induced with my first baby and my second one I went into labor but ended up needing pitocin so????? I am ok with it ether way - it was less nerve wrakcing for me
