Bad Back Pain

For the last two weeks I have had very, very, very bad back pain. It is between my shoulder blades and lower back and it is all on my right side. It is just one spot on my back too. I also have bad pain on the same side in front on my rib cage. It hurts so bad that I can hardly sit down and it keeps me awake at night and it is geting much worse all the time. I noticed today that my rib that runs from the spot in my back where it hurts to the front of my rib cage where it hurts is pushed out further than the rest. Is this something to worry about? Is it some thing that can be fixed? Or do I just need to live with it until the baby is born? Should I tell my Dr.? My next appointment is not for another week.

Hi Lacey: I always live by the philosophy that any pain that feels excessive be reported to your doctor, especially when you're pregnant! I know how scary that can be. How far along are you? It is possible that with things shifting and growing and stretching, something could be pinching a nerve or resting somewhere that's causing pressure to certain parts of your back/ribs. But I would let your doctor know so they can help you find a way to relieve the pain. Good luck!

Obviously, tell your doctor, but try a Chiropractor. They bring a lot of women relief during pregnancy. Hope you feel better.
