I go for my first appointment on Wed., I guess they will do an ultrasound, I think I will be 14 wks, I just wondered if we would be able to tell the gender? I hope for a health baby, But it also would be nice to have a boy. I have 2 girls and my husband's family does not have many boys.

I think if its a 3-d/4-d ultrasound, then probably, especially if its a boy. They say at 12-13 weeks the s_x is distinguishable. Let us know how it goes!

ya but most 3-d/4-d ultrasounds won't even look until your about 18 weeks. You can try it but i doubt they will be able to tell. I tried to tell what i was having at 16 weeks 6 days and they told me it was too early so i had to wait until i was 19 weeks, and still then it was hard to see. but ya i guess you could try

I had my first scan last week, at 13 weeks, 4 days. And they told me Im having a boy. The midwife seemed quite certian. I guess it all depends on how the baby is lying.......

I hope they can tell , I am not one that likes to wait to know things , My husband always sayes I am like a little kid when it comes to suprises, I always just have to know!!!!!! But I guess if I have to wait I just will have to, donnablackwell, did you have a 3-d/4-d ultrasound, or was it just a regular ultrasound??

Oh, and Congrats. on having a boy!!!!!!! Do you have names picked out?

I'm having an u/s tommorow and I'll be almost 14 weeks. I hope they can tell, but she might not even try to look this early. I hope she does though.

Hi. It's gonna be a stretch to find it at 14 weeks. Of course the U/s tech can try but I won't bet on it. I'm an U/s tech and i think it's better to wait closer to 20 weeks.

Yes, definitely not too early. I found out I am having a boy at 12w4d. The doctor comfirmed again that it's a boy last week when I was 15w4d. Not to early if you have a good tech. Good luck and let us know!!

I had a u/s at 19 weeks and 5 days and the tech said I have a 60-70% chance of having another boy. I would say the later the u/s the more accurate.

While you may be able to see the s_x as early as 12 wks, most often they won't even try to look until 15 wks or later. I have had two scans one at 12 wks; one at 13.5 and both times they didn't even really try. The told me at 15 wks (when things are less fuzzy) that's when they try. Just depends on your dr/tech.
