Did Anyone Not Get The AFP Screening

I'm just wondering because I opted not to have it done due to all the false positives etc.. But now I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and have it done. My ultrasound is scheduled for 01/24 so I figured that would tell me if something was in fact wrong. I just hit 16 weeks on Sunday so I can still have it done. I guess I just feel confused now and am wondering if I made the right choice.

For me personally, I wanted it done. I just figured that I would rather be prepared if something was wrong way in advance. I also knew that there was a chance in a false positive, but there is no reason for me no to prepared either way. I guess it would just be to hard to find out something was wrong at delivery. Now as far as my dr. goes, they pretty much recommended it and said that it was just a simple blood test and that I should really have it done. If you don't want to, then it's ok! Only you can determine what would be best for you. Good luck!

My doctor recomments it. The first test is not invasive, and if they recommend further tests, you can decline and just go by ultrasounds. Going in with the knowledge that there are many false positives is probably the best way, so if something does come up, you know that statistically, there is nothing wrong with your baby! Good luck with your decision.
