Do Doctors Still Do

Hi Ladies, I'm 6 months pregnant now. Every pregnancy book I read says from 5 months on, you should expect to have your doctor measure the height of your fundus (top of uterus), size of the uterus and position of the fetus. How come my doctor never did any of these for me? Are those old practice that doctors don't perform anymore or is it just my doc? Thanks!

My doctor said he wasn't going to start measuring me until I was 24 weeks. I would ask your doctor when he will start measuring.

I was wondering that too, they haven't done so for me either.

I just got measured for the first time at my 24 week check up. I asked the doctor and he said they always wait unti 24-26 weeks in the office here. Before that they don't get an accurate measurement (somehow - didn't ask anymore about it) hope this helps

My midwife said that after 20 weeks the uterus is above the navel and that's when they start measuring.

I am 17 weeks and my doctor hasn't measured me yet either. At my 15 week checkup he felt where my uterus was, but never measured.

Some doctors can tell just by feeling and looking and may not say anything to you but doc_ment it in your medical chart.
