Fell On The Ice

Hello ladies.. Well I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and last night after leaving a friends I slipped on the ice and fell right onto my back and tried to catch myself with my arm. So far I've had no bleeding or cramping and my back is not sore or anything but I am so worried I am going to lose the baby. This is my first and we are super excited about this child. I just heard a strong 168 heartbeat on wednesday and everything seemed to be progressing perfectly. Has this happened to anyone else? should I be really concerned? Thanks!

Oh no! Sorry to hear of your fall. If you're really worried, definitely call your OBGYN and go in - even if just to hear the heartbeat. I had a car accident at 12 weeks, ironically enough on my way HOME from that appointment! They told me over the phone that as long as there was no bleeding or cramping I was fine. I still wanted to go in, but was able to wait until the next visit to see that all was OK. Just be super-aware of any symptoms. Hope you feel better!

Hi Brooke. I'm so sorry! Falling is not fun in fact it just happened to me last Wednesday. I'm at 24 weeks and I turned my ankle on a rock and fell on my left side. My left arm broke most of my fall, but my laptop bag dug in to my right side belly. I was freaking out, but I didn't feel much pain and though my uterus tightened up for a little bit, I had no cramping or bleeding. Supposedly the baby is well cushioned in their amniotic sac and unless it's a major b__w to the front of the belly, I'm sure your babe is blissfully unaware. Of course check with doc to put your mind at ease.
