Home Heart Monitors

Has anyone tried those home kits to hear the baby's heartbeat? I am tempted to buy one, but I don't want to just throw away the $ if it is just a hoax. Also, how far along do you have to be to pick it up? I am 18 weeks.

If you go this route, get a fetal doppler. It's the same thing your doctor uses. You can usually rent them, because they're expensive. Do not buy the microphone thing that they sell. It can be anywhere between 10 and 50 dollars. They are garbage. I bought one for 30 dollars and I am 28 weeks. All I can hear is my stomach sounds. Nothing from my baby. It says that you have to wait until the middle of the third trimester to hear anything. That's garbage!! Who wants to wait until the end to listen to their baby? It sucks all around and it's a waste of money. The most popular one is called BeBe Sounds. Don't buy any of them, you'll regret it.

Actually, I am 19 weeks and I have one of the microphone ones. At first, I couldn't hear anything but my stomach sounds. BUT today, I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was amazing. My mom and husband heard it too and loved it.

I rented a fetal doppler from babybeat.com. It costs $30.00 a month and was delivered to my door in 3 days. It is awesome. My husband and I listen together every night. I am 18 weeks and can find the heatbeat easily and it comes across loud and clear. I love it! I highly recommend it.

my boyfriend bought me the BeBe Sounds monitor for Mother's Day. Last night, at 24 weeks we could hear the baby' s heart beat and we could hear her move around. This is the first time we have got the thing to work. I am so glad we finally did!

I agree with Ruth...dont buy those ones at the store. They dont work!!! I never heard anything, but I returned mine with no problem.
