Is Anyone Getting Bummed Out About Summer Coming

Hi there! I know this is going to sound "hormonal", but here goes. I am 21 weeks along and getting the blues over summer coming! Every summer we go boating every weekend which includes water skiing, tubing, swimming and camping. I am now getting bummed out that I won't be able to participate in anything and will be sitting there like a bump on the log (or whate on the log) feeling left out! It doesn't help that one of our friends is a little twig who always finds it necessary to wear a 2 pc and show off. I guess I am feeling "fat" at this point as if I am not going to belong in any summer fun. Is anyone else feeling this way with the warm weather approaching? What are you ladies doing to try to "fit in" with friends, family to the best of your abilities given the circ_mstances (which by the way are great...no regrets). How is everyone else coping with adjusting? I should say that with my first (8 years ago), I didn't care in the summer. I was just happy all around. This time I feel miserable and left out! Help!

I'm looking forward to the sun, but not the heat that comes along with it. It hit 92f last week and I was really miserable. You can still go swimming and camping, but probably not the tubing or water skiing. Can you still ride in the boat? I'm still going to go swimming this year as I love the water and find it very relaxing, but I will miss the water slides.

I started to miss summer stuff BUT think of it this way - people will totally know you're pregnant - not just fat. AND (I'm 21 wks too) if you have baby in October, that gives you like 8 months to get your figure back for next summer when you'll have an adorable 8/9 month old baby (the cute stage!) to show off and play with outside :) (I'm having an up day, btw....)

Thank you so much! emilymalm, I can still go boating since we don't do rough rides (choppy waters etc.) so it is safe still. Definitely not tubing/skiing! Which I will miss:-( I love the water also, and can't wait to swim. Our weather here has been blah, so we won't be swimming for a few more weeks. SuzieQ, I am due Oct 5th, how about you? I will have to work hard those 8 months for next season! I think what depressed me most was that. I am now getting worried about...well what if I can't lose the weight. How am I going to look. With my son, I didn't care about losing weight. After I had him I felt that I was "skinny" again..but I wasn't. I just recently lost pretty much weight before getting pg with this one and at the doctors they said I gained 7 pounds. My husband made the comment in saying "7 pounds, is that all? I thought it was a lot more than that". Hence why I feel "fat" not pg now. B___thead!!! He did try to be nice and cover it up by saying "no, its because I was use to seeing you smaller and now youre.. pregnant. I know he meant I looked chubby. Anyway, you ladies did make me feel better! Is this your first babies?

im due november 20 and I know how you feel. Iam only 15 weeks but I am going through that transitional period where i dont quite look pregnant yet so im not in maternity clothes but I only have like 1 pair of jeans that still fit, and I am not at all loking forward to my 115 pound friends getting drunk and running around in bikinis. Thankfully, one of my best friends is a mom of a 1-1/2 year old and has been very supportive of my whining through all of this. :o) and she promised any time I wanted to get away from all of that I can come hang out with her and her son. <3

this is my first. my husband has been good... he says im not fat but if i do get fat that im supposed to for the baby. haha. Men. hes a liar... i gained 10 pounds and hes blind if he doesnt see it. thankfully I was thin before i got pregnant. im not worried about taking the weigh off after because I love walking and the slim fast diet always worked like a charm for me... i am just worried about now. i didnt mean to gain so much weight in the first trimester so im trying to be good now without actually losing any weight because i know thats bad.

I can say I'm very pg. @ 25 wks. and I already am missing out on things I would noramlly enjoy, we go whitewater rafting in the spring and summer and this year I just don't get to go as much, I only get to do little floats, not the big fun stuff. I am pg w/ my first, I just do what I feel I can and don't worry about it too much. I tried on my bikini a few weeks ago and my hubby said I looked beautiful, but other ppl might not like to look @ my big ol stomach, so I got a cute tankini from Old Navy, and it looks great. I'm sorry lexa that your hubby made that comment, and you know I have friends who are all little hotties right now, but they all think that I'm beautiful right now because I am pg and they're not.(My friends are all really supporttive.) I think that you need to try to focus on the positive things you can do and not the ones you can't, and hey it's just 1 summer it's not forever.

I say screw all of our skinny friends - we're PREGNANT and I'm DEFINITELY showing off my baby this year, I don't care how much cellulite I have! I bought TWO bikinis for the beach and even though I look slightly whale-ish, I just can't help but feel happy that my little bun is cooking away in there and everyone can see! Lexa I think you will have more fun than you probably anticipate - boating, swimming, camping - they're not the fast and furious activities, but everyone will pamper you and coo over your belly! I think what Erynn says is right - my friends think I look gorgeous too and right now it's just some motherly aura that eludes them. :-) Hang in there!

I actually planned being pregnant in the summer. I was pregnant with my daguhter in the winter and it kinda sucked. there was no cute clothes, no showing off your bump, big coats etc. I am so excited for it to be getting warm so that i can wear all my cute little maternity clothes that i bought. I dont really do anything in the summer anyway so im not going to be missing out on anything...im just excited to take my 16 month old to the beach and in the pool. I dont have any friends (haha, sorry but we have all just turned 21 and they are MIA on the club scene) but thats ok its just going to be me and my little one and daddy all summer....which is just the way that i like it. You will still have an awesome summer, you can still go boating and camping, just not water skiing and tubing....I hope your summer starts looking better real soon. Good luck

Yay KimL! That's a good spirit you have :) This is my first after two m/c's so I'm so happy to finally look pregnant. Sure, I miss my mountain biking (whatta rush) and actually miss my exercise (?!?) but it's all good. LEXA I'm due Oct 1st - we have lots of family bdays at that time so everyone is competing to share their birthday with our baby's! I'm fairly healthy to begin with, so I'm not too worried about losing the weight afterwards. I eat a healthy diet and I figure it will take about 9 months to get back to a somewhat normalish prepregnancy look :)

Kim L - May 26

Hey Suzie - yes I know all about you, we were separated at birth. I had my miscarriages same time as you and now we're due like, 4 days apart (I'm Oct. 5). CONGRATS to you and good for you showing off your tummy!

I feel the same way as Lexa. I am usually very active in the summer. Softball, Boating, Camping, Golfing. I feel a little bummed b/c I cant really participate in any of these things, but I know it's all worth it. I am a huge summer/sun person, so I will be spending a lot of time at the beach getting tan and were are moving into a new house. I am 24 weeks and due in September so the between the house and the beach September will be here before I know it (yay!!!). I am really gald i am not preggo in the Winter though. The thought of putting on big coats and sweaters with a huge belly is not appealing. At least we can wear tanks and skirts. Anywho........I wish everyone a great Summer and the best of luck with your little ones :-)

Kim L - May 26

Good for you drea, working on your tan will be so relaxing and you'll feel like a goddess by the time fall rolls around again. A question - why can't you do golfing, boating, or camping? Softball I get. But those other activities seem pretty safe...

drea - May 26

Well with golf it's getting kind of hard to swing (with my belly and all) and also the golf courses here are really hilly. I am very competative, so I'll get really frustrated if I dont do well. Camping I guess I can do, but the sleeping situation is not appealing to me as I have trouble now in my own bed, and as far as the boating is concerned, the waters around here are pretty rough (causes lots hard of bouncing) which makes me nervous, so I'm gonna avoid that this year. I think I'll just stick to the beach and pools, at least until September. Maybe we'll still have some nice weather after my little girl is born :-)

Kim L - May 26

Oh I see! Well that's probably a good idea then. I think you'll have lots of sunshine left after she arrives! That's a great time of year to have a baby. I'll be right behind you in October. :)

drea - May 26

Cool October is great. My b-day is October 1st and my daughter is due on September 16th so if she decides to hang out for a little longer we may end up haveing the same b-day. Libra's are awesome......good luck Kim

MM - May 26

I'm totally bummed out. I have been playing baseball every summer since the age of 4 - this will be the first year I don't get to play... I know a lot of people don't really understand either. It's my favourite thing to do. Now I can't do that, drink at the cottage, smoke, rollerblade, etc. Summer is my favourite time of year (I hate winter) & this year it will suck. I know in the end it will be worth it (I'm due Nov. 12th) but it's hard RIGHT NOW.
