Sorry ladies about all the recent scares. you are all in my thoughts. i still don't even know what a contraction feels like. would i know if i had one?

SarahD take it easy girl. Well we went to one of the Mardi Gras parades this weekend and it was around 47 degrees...I know that is summer to some of ya'll but that is cold in Louisiana and yesterday and today I am so achy I can barely move. Has anyone been hurting in there tailbone. I know we mentioned hips but my tailbone is killing me.

SarahD - So sorry to hear about your visit to the hospital. But, better safe than sorry! I'm glad they are having you see an ob/gyn. You will get a lot more information from them because it is their specialty. I think everyone deserves to rest and take it easy this week. It is Valentine's Day week and I think we all owe it to ourselves and our babies to rest!

Thanks ladies! Contractions feel like your uterus tightens up like a ROCK - if it's only "in front" or part of the uterus apparently that's no big deal, just BH. It's when they go all over and come often that it's a problem. Some people never feel BH even when they have them. Anywho, thanks for the well wishes, I'm feeling fine today but taking it easy definitely! DOWN - glad to hear you're feeling okay so far, when is your u/s??

Hello all. Sorry to hear about your scare Sarah.. good that you are on top of it though.. that is SOOO important. For any of you that needs more information on preterm labor...etc. Check out the March of Dimes... they are a great organization and their main goal is to educate people on signs of premature labor and help those with premies. They have signs to look for on there. You will know what a contraction is when you have one.. a bad one that is. They say a womans uterus contacts all the time.. but we don't feel it.. it is the bad ones that Sarah was explaining that we need to be careful of. Some don't do anything... and some make your cervex open. At one point during my preterm labor (30weeks) I was at 3 cm and baby was at a 3 station.. I can't remember now.. but he was coming!! They were able to stop it and actually my cervex closed once I went on bedrest and was on meds. Seeing an OBGYN is a GREAT Idea..they deal with these types of things all the time and know what to do.. Hope everyone has a great week. I know there will be no Valentines Gifts for me and hubby.. still hurting from the kitchen remodel!! $$ is tight... but just enjoying my kitchen is a gift in itself!

Pebbles I'm just glad mine were the kind that didn't do anything to my cervix! That March of Dimes website does give good info - it's funny, b/c I had the contractions more than every ten minutes and pain like my period that lasted more than an hour, so I think I need some "modified" guildelines from my doctor for someone with an irritable uterus! I have no desire to run to the ER if these contractions aren't labour, I just need to know when it IS a problem if it happened again (which obviously hopefully it just doesn't!).

Sorry to hear about everyone's scares over the weekend. That stinks! I am glad, Sarah that you are seeing an ob/gyn. This is their specialty, so you should be in good hands. On another note, do you girls ever feel like you heart is pounding in your ears? I usually notice it most when bend down & come back up. Not to mention when I am laying or sitting still I can feel my heart beating. I understand that I have lots more blood than normal (almost 2 pints, I think!), so it makes sense that my heart beats harder, but hearing it in my left ear so much is alarming. Also, the silliest things make me winded. I can walk a mile or so on the treadmill no problem, but send me up one little flight of stairs & I feel out of shape. I am finding it easier to empathize with overweight people when I see them trying to catch their breath at the store. Glad this is only temporary!!

Hey girls! So sorry to hear about the scares that a few of you have been going through! Pebbles I actually fainted once during the first trimester and it freaked me out! My ob actually said it can happen and is usually no sign for concern unless you are having cramping/bleeding along with it of course. It's the worst feeling in the world though---I hate it! So I completely feel for ya! Sarah sounds like you better take it easy too...I'm sure you're getting sick of hearing that from everybody...but it's true : ). Did they give you an ultrasound or just do an internal check? So my sil called this weekend and she's due in about 3 weeks but apparently she's 50% effaced and dilated to 1. I don't know if that really means anything or not? Any of you know? So any of you have special plans for v-day? I hear ya Pebbles on the $$ thing...so I just got dh the book "guess how much I love you" and a pair of leather brown sandals for the baby that match a pair he has. Too cute. Other than that, I'll probably be cooking up dinner and having a romantic evening at home...nothing too crazy, but I already am preparing myself for a bding session because I will won't forgive myself if I hold out on Valentine's day ; ). Jendean I completely hear you about the tailbone thing!!! I was out and about shopping all day yesterday and by the end of the day my tailbone was killing me! So I completely know what you're going through and in fact it's still a bit bothersome to me today. I have beenr eally lucky so far with no back pains, but this tailbone thing is making up for it the past couple of days! I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get to feel much movement iin the evening when I normally do...do you girls think it's because he stays awake when I'm moving around more during the day? Because it seems like when I'm sitting for much of the day at work I feel him much more at night. Just curious. I try not to worry about it---but I totally do! Can't even pretend to hide that worry. So I can't believe i'm 24 weeks 1 day today---that means only a few more weeks and most of us should be moving over to the 3rd trimster board!!! But I don't mind waiting either till we can all move together ; ). It's just flying! Does anybody have shower plans yet? My first one is going to be April 14th which is only 8 weeks away and that means I will be 32 (almost 33) weeks along---which b__ws my mind! That will be the main family shower...and then the following weekend is going to be the family friend shower which I am really looking forward to! There was just too many people to have one so that's why I decided to break it up. I want to be able to actually talk to each of the guests that come and make every person feel appreciated for coming. I just don't think I could do that if there were 35 people present. Do you girls think that's lame or okay?

pebblesnbambam - February 12

Kelly, I think you are fine for breaking it up.. that is what we did.. but mine were after baby was born since we did not (or planned not) to find out the gender. It is nice to have smaller ones.. for you and guests. Oph - not having the pounding in my ears.. but definatly feel more winded. I have been exercising more and can tell that each time I do the video it gets easier and easier.. so hopefully my body is getting a little work out! Have to run, son is ill and need to get work done incase I have to stay home tomorrow from work. Poor thing... fever and his tounge (throat) hurts.... soo sad to see them sick!

Aww pebbles im sorry your son is sick I hope he gets well soon :) Sarah my u/s was today at 1:30 pm and I will not find the results out until Wensday, im nervous. Though O found out right now baby is in breech position and he is doing very well, a little thumb sucker he is. Im just so nervous about the cervix results the tech also asked if they measured my cervix at my detailed u/s at around 20 weeks, I told her i wasent sure. Other than that everything is good and i gotta get going, im doing my sons valentine cards with him today so tomorrow we can make cookies, try to do one big activity with him a day as well as my other 2 :)

excited2bemama - February 12

Alicia- We are supposed to get all that snow here in NH too... supposed to start tomorrow night... I'll believe it when I see it- so far we haven't had more than 2-3 inches at one time in the past few years so we shall see! I have my monthly check up tomorrow.. just routine stuff... I didn't hubbie anything for v-day- but I don't think he got me anything either..... we are cheap.. LOL.. I was going to buy him a card but I couldn't see spending 4 dollars on one when I can tall him everything I would write in a card... money is a little $$$ right now anyways.. Pebbles sorry your son is sick- But man is that stuff going around.... I talked to so many patients today c/o of a sore throat... its just that time of year.

Wow, it has been a stressful day. My DH mother was steem cleaning her stairs and fell from the landing about 4 ft in the air on her head. The impact was on the back of her head but because of the impact it caused a bruise to the front of her brain. She is in Intensive care and will have another catscan in the morning to see if the hemotoma will go away on its own or if they have to put in a stint and drain it. She is alert and talking but has a really bad headache, the worst part is tomorrow is her birthday and she will be in intensive care but at least she has her life. So needless to say I do not look for us to have a romantic valentines day but it could always be worst.

ophelia73 - February 13

Jendean - That's terrible about you mil. I hope she is OK. Have you heard anything today? Pebbles - how is your little one? Hope he is feeling better. Alicia - Are you in PA? I am in IN, and we started getting the snow at about 2:30 this a.m. I called in to work b/c we are under a BLIZZARD WARNING, which we NEVER get around here. Of course my office didn't close, but I just heard that they were letting people go at 10:00. Stupid - people had to drive in awful conditions for two hours of work. Of course, I still get charged a full vacation day since I didn't even go in. Looks like tomorrow might be the same way. I knew it was bad this morning when I saw that doctors offices & urgent care facilities were closed for the day! Anyway, the FedEx guy just showed up, and he was NOT happy to be working. I felt terrible for him, but I am excited because he dropped off the crib!!! Our bedding came last week & it is cute cute cute!! DH started painting & we have two walls that are RED to match the bedding. We love it. Take care everyone, and to all of you expecting snow, stay safe. And Excited - I always think that, too about the snow, but this time it is a major event!
