I'm 21 weeks and this is my third child. 14 and 12. My husband is an officer in the USMC, he's gone alot. He wasn't even there for the birth of the first two. We both thought he would be here this time but he's gone now and has missed all but the Doc visit. Is going to miss the u/s. He thinks he will be here for the birth but who knows. I was just wondering if I'm the only one out there if something like this.

i'm with ya! my husband (fiance at the time) missed EVERYTHING with our first baby. the appointments, the u/s, the devivery, everything. he finally met our son when he was nearly 2 months old. we got lucky with our second, we were at a good station that let him have more time off. he was there for almost everything. this time he BARELY made it to the u/s. no appointments. it's stressful, but something i've learned to live with. it's not like he's out at the bar during all this, he's working, protecting our country, and providing for our family so i'm not resentful, just a little sad. it's a tough life being a happily married single mother. ;o)

This is my first baby and my boyfriend is in the ARMY and he too will and has MISSED everything!!! It makes "the joy of being pregnant" so hard to feel, when your significant other isn't there to ENJOY those precious moments with YOU (hearing the heartbeat or seeing the ultrasounds).

My husband is Air Force and this is our first. However we have tried and tried and tried. He is due to deploy for 10 days on a special a__signment over my due date and then leave for Iraq in January. Our doctor has agreed to induce me if things look favorable at 38 weeks so he can be here. Its hard having him gone so often but it is part of being a military wife. Good luck- we are stationed in the DC area where are all of you stationed?

Rea you are definitly not alone. My Husband has been in the Army for almost 6 years and we are now having our 1st child. I know its hard simply being a military wife much less having to go through this by yourself. I dont know if the Marines do this but have you tried getting in touch with your FSG (Family Support Group)? It really helps being with other spouses during deployments and what nots. my email is [email protected] if you wanna talk sometime. oh and we are at Ft Riley...for now

I am not in this situation but reading your stories really breaks my heart. I just wanted to say thank you to your and your husbands for protecting me and my family. Your sacrifices have changed this world. Thanks.
