Nipple Rings Amp Pregnancy

I am now 15 weeks and 4 days. I have both my nipples pierced. I got them done in like Jan or Feb of 2005. However, one time the ring came out and I had to get my right nipple re-pierced. That occurred during the summer of 2005. Other than that, I've had no problems. I've also read that lactation will not be an issue, but I've noticed my right nipple is easily irritated and has been releasing pus from where the hole is. It also has been releasing blood. I know it's TMI, but I was wondering does anyone have pierced nipples and is experiencing this? If so, what are you doing to help? Thank you.

if it is releasing pus and blood, it sounds like an infection....pus is always a sign of infection, especially if you have had it done well over a year a go. I would take the peircings out if you plan on BF and let them heal up...also ask a doctor about getting an antibiotic for your nipple is better to get it cleared up now, than later.

heey i use to have mine pierced as well and i noticed where the holes were they seem different now that im pregnant (i'm 15wks3days BTW) .. i think since the furthur along you are the bigger and different your nipples become it will probably make them infected, and also in about 8 weeks your nipples are gonna get supppppppper sensitive to where shower water will hurt... so what im trying to sayyy is you should take them out before they get even more infected and before your nipples are too sensitive to touch.. =] - January 29

what is TMI? i am 14 weeks, and i took my nipple ring out about 2 years ago because it was infected. it was very tender and had puss and blood was also coming out of the holes. i would take that one out, it sounds infected. after taking mine out and the infection cleared up, i had a white discharge from the holes where the piercing was...and still have it to this day. i posted a question under the b___stfeeding topic and a few other people said that they had the discharge too and they are both b___stfeeding now and the discharge has cleared up.
