I am 5 months pregnant and I tried to quit smoking several times but every time failed. I'm going to try to quit again but I was wondering if its more harmful to my baby to quit cold turkey. Please HELP!! Thanks

I know that once you get to a certain point in your pregnancy they tell you it is unsafe to quit because the baby is so used to it that is can send them into like a shock. It happened to a friend of mine, she tried and tried and tried and she got to a point where they told her she couldnt because the baby was dependent on it.

You should talk to your doctor about how you should go about quiting.

I have heard that if you are totally unable to quit then to cut down as much as possible since quitting completely could hurt the baby if you are freaking out all the time...just think how much better 2 cigarettes would be than 20.

Thanks for everyone helping. I have decided to smoke 2 to 3 smokes a day until I go to my next appointment which is next Friday. I guess the way I look at it is that 3 smokes is better than 10. Thanks again.
