Any other moms-to-be in Southern California? I'm wondering if breathing all this smoke might be bad for our babies... anyone know? I have my regular OB appt on Friday, so I'll ask him then, but wondered if anyone had already talked to their OBs and had any advice or warnings.

I was wondering the same, I am afraid to go outside. I have a really bad case of bronchitis, so that has me worried enough of the affects to the baby, and now all this smoke in the air, I cannot imagine this is good for my baby. My primary physician as well as my OB AND my urgent care were all evacuated and are closed atleast until Monday, so I went to the ER last night because my symptoms are only getting worse and they just kinda looked me over, said it was bronchitis and sent me on my way, but I did not feel that they listened to what my complaints were, and I feel like my left lung hurts and when I cough up mucus there is blood in it, so I am really worried too.

Hey melluvsmik, I saw my OB yesterday. He had no definitive information for me. Much like I keep reading in the news, he said there have been no studies done on this topic, so no one really knows for sure how dangerous this might be for our lo's. He told me the basics: stay inside with a/c on, don't exercise outdoors, even get a TB-quality mask, if I want to. (I guess that filters more of this particulate matter than those regular hosptial masks.) Let me know if you get any more information from your docs when they're back. In the meantime, I hope things are going better for you and that you're breathing well!
