Tri Ple And Quad Screen

Has anyone struggled with the 2 blood tests? It seems they have a high rate of being wrong and we've opted not to do an amino, now my 16 week apt is 11-22 and we're wondering about not doing the triple since we don't agree with abortion. We don't want a false negative and worry for months as I've heard happening and the baby is fine. Anyone else opt not to? Any help in making our decision would be great. If we have a level 2 does anyone know if that will be more accurate in seeing any complications?

If I were you I would go with the level 2 sono I did have a false positive for the afp test and I went thru pure hell waiting for more tests and thank God it was just a false positive and my baby is perfectly healthy I have had 2 level 2 sonos and you will know if there are real problems by having that done plus you get to see very clear pics of your little one good luck to you but in my opinion the blood tests afp and triple screen are c___p!!

I did the triple/quad screening and I am very happy that I did. The reason I say this is because after the screen at my level 2 u/s there was a white spot on my baby's heart which can be a marker for down syndrome. The doctor said that we would look at my quad screen results and if they were negative there would be nothing to worry about. I called my Ob immedietly and my results were negative but if I had not taken the quad screen I might have opted for the amnio. So I would say do it! That is just my opinion.

My doctor advised me not to do the triple or quad screen. She said there are too many false positives, and that because of my age (37) it would not come back normal and it would do nothing more than stress me out. We had a level 2 instead. It was wonderful and our little girl appeared perfectly healthy and normal.

I WOULD SAY GET IT,B/C EVEN IF U WOULDNT GET AN ABORTION IF SOMETHING WERE TO BE WRONG AT LEAST U WOULD BE PREPARED! I JUST HAD A COUSIN,HER BABY WAS BORN WITH DOWNS AND THEY HAD NO IDEA UNTIL BIRTH,IT WAS SUCH A SHOCK

I was having trouble deciding wether to get the test or not. I went in last Wed and talked to the Dr about it. I am 32. I asked her about the u/s instead she said that is best when it is done at 10-12 weeks not at 18-20 to detect problems with the fetus. I don''t agree with the abortion either but I did want to know if something is wrong so I could be prepared. You just have to keep in mind that it is a screening not a test and if you do get a positive you need to take another test. The worry would suck but I feel so much better now that I took it. The Dr told me they would call me in 3-5 days well it has been 6 days and I am starting to relax. Good Luck. It is a hard decision
