Ultrasound Gender How Often Are They Wrong

Im now 26 weeks pregnant and I was told at week 19 I was having a Girl, then told again at an ultrasound 2weeks later that it was a Girl. Iv told my family who are deleriously happy, and have waited over 14 years for the next girl in our large family. The one thing im worried about is, the ultrasound being wrong, and giving birth to a boy. In the ultrasound.. when checking the s_x, they noticed 3 little dots, which the ultrasound tech told me was the labia forming. Oh gosh, please tell me she was right, anyone else seen the same thing, or similar on an ultrasound where theyve been told a female. Im just really unsure. Thanks for your replies.

i'm 25 weeks and they told me at 22 weeks that it was a girl, only at my ultra sound the tech looked for three lines not three dots...first girl over here in a long time too, as well as first grand child on both sides, so she better be a girl or i'm gonna be returning an awful lot of pink stuff...i get another ultrasound at 28 weeks so i hope we will be more certain then......good luck!! :)

yeah. 3 dots, and 3 lines. been told elsewhere it is the same. Its the first girl in our family for 14 years. and i have a rather large family too.. and it is the first grandchild for my parents, and my boyfriends parents.. so yeah.. same, it better be a girl.. cause i have bought so many pink things its unbelievable. lol. thanks for your reply :) very rea__suring

Im not sure what I'm having yet.....but I wanted to let you gals know that I have one friend pregnant w/twin girls and they found out because of the three dots and then my friend that now has a baby girl.....all her US pics had the three dots. So I'd say keep on buying pink. Congrats to ya both!

I'm 18 weeks and my last ulrasound was very clear that it is a boy. I'm still going with neutral colors though just in case :)

We had an ultrasound at 16 weeks, we were told that it's a boy. This was confirmed when we got the results of our Amnio testing.

Ok, so the 3 lines must mean girl right? WE saw those and the tech said she was 75-80% sure it was a girl!!! I am terrified of bringing a baby boy home dressed in pink. LOL! Has anyone seen or been told about the lines and had a boy?????

I found this really good site... it explains about the lines and things it has questions and answers, one question says..."I had an ultrasound at 23 weeks and the technician said that she was 80% sure the baby was a girl because of "three white lines" in the genital area. The baby's feet were covering the area which made it hard to get a clear picture, and I left more confused than when I arrived. Have you heard of these three lines before. She said you dont "usually" get the three lines with a boy. Does this make sense or should I ask for a re-scan? Please respond, I am very upset about this. I wanted so much to "prepare" a room and buy things specific for a boy or girl......" and the answer for this was "The 3-lines sign which denotes the labia in the fetus is a very valid and accurate indication of the female gender. There is also this "And just how accurate is the diagnosis of fetal gender by ultrasound? Well, I have to say that it should be very accurate (somewhere between 95 and 100% at 20 weeks), particularly after about 20 weeks, or even sixteen". Reading this made me feel a little better about what I saw in the ultrasound... if you want to have a look at the site, the address is http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/genderfaq.html
