CAN AND HOW DOES THIS AFFECT CONCEPTION AF OR PG

I went to the dr. yesterday b/c I am on CD41, 8 days late, which has never in the last 12 yrs happened to me (except when I was pg). Well, she took a urine test that was negative and she took blood, I am waiting for the results which can take up to a week. She also determined I have a yeast infection and gave me a prescription. Can the infection make af late? Can it prevent pregnancy from happening? If yes, why?

I posted this in the other thread, but reposting here in case you didn't see it...Af would not be late due to a yeast infection. The only reason AF is late is because you ovulated later. Remember that myths page I put up, it indicated that the luteal phase stays about the same, but the follicular phase can change ovulation due to various things like stress. I bet it is more than likely you ovulated later than you thought. Sorry to hear you are not preggers. How did you know you had a yeast infection? My DH had a dream two days ago I was preggers. Well, his dream compelled me to do a test (14 days post ovulation today) and I got a negative...so I guess his dream was wrong. I myself have to call my RE this Thursday if I get no AF today or tomorrow morning to get my provera shot... I hate this too! i'm in the same boat as you ladyD!

Oh yes, a yeast infection can prevent pregnancy from occuring. Yes, yes, yes...I asked my doctor the same thing last May 10 when I saw her cuz I thought that was my problem.

Thanks linds. Actually, I didn't get the results of the blood test yet, so there is a lil hope..barely any. I don't know when I ov'd but when you do ov later, how much later is later? Do you know what I mean? Like a few days,weeks..? The dr. told me I have an infection, I didn't have a clue because I don't have excess discharge, odor, or anything! I don't understand. I read the page you put up, I wasn't stressed out this cycle so it can't be that, unless it's something else that is making me ov late...I am really confused with my body now. I thought that an infection can prevent pg, thanks for confirming that. Oh, my goodness. I am about to go nuts...I don't know what to do. What if I miss another af? Could that happen back to back and not be pg?

Or you could be annovulatory...meaning you didn't ovulate this cycle. It happens to everyone at sometime or another. Which could be why you are late too (if the blood test is not preggers of course.)

A yeast infection disrupts the cervix's natural fertile secretions and could kill off sperm waiting in the pool to go to the upper reproductive organs for fertilization...that is how it can inhibit fertilization. You had no discharge? At all?

Hey, I found this on a website, it says that yeast infections don't impair fertility as my doctor told me? So now I am on the fence.. Question: Can a yeast infection affect my fertility? Answer: No — having a yeast infection will not directly affect your chances of getting pregnant. But the itchiness and irritation it causes probably won't put you in the mood for intercourse. Yeast infections are caused by a common fungus called candida. Normally, the acidity of the v____a keeps this fungus from multiplying. But a change in the acid balance of the v____a (often due to illness, menstruation, pregnancy, some antibiotics, or birth control pills) can encourage yeast growth. Moist, tight clothing such as a wet bathing suit can also provide prime breeding ground for yeast. Infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, or bacterial vaginosis can change the acidity of v____al secretions, which can affect your chances of getting pregnant by making it tough for sperm to reach the egg.

Thanks so

Thanks so much, linds for the info but now we are both confused about what your dr. said...lol. I don't have any irritation down there, she did a pap. No itching, burning, odor, nothing at all. I'm starting to think she didn't know what she was talking about, but I'm gonna take the meds anyway. I highly doubt an std (I don't put nothing past any man whatsoever), I don't know what else to think. I am just hoping this pg just hasn't been detected yet and will be confirmed once blood is back.

Another question, my b___sts are slightly sore to the touch, like if I press in the area around the nipple and areola but not too serious. Would my b___st be sore if I am having that ovulatory cycle? Wouldn't I have to ov to have this feeling b/c it's part of the hormones? (Hope that made sense because it barely did to me..lol)

Hey Lady D....just wanted to let you know that in early pregnancy with my son, before I found out....I had no discharge whatsoever, a swollen feeling on the inside and a slight burning for about 20 minutes one day on the inside of my thighs, then gone....felt like I'd spilled perfume on myself...but other than that, nothing to suggest a yeast infection ( and I know how they are, I've had plenty of them)....but after I found out I was pregnant I asked the Doc about it and she said that it was a yeast infection and gave me the meds in case of a reoccurence....she said sometimes in early pregnancy or illness, when the normal balance of the v____a is interrupted, a slight yeast "build up" can occur....often with slight or no symptoms and can often only be seen with an internal exam.....just thought I'd offer my experience if it helps any..... hope it means you are pg!! =D

Well, af made her way down. Last night I had (**TMI**) a glob of cm with blood and this morning af made her presence known. My question is I have this yeast infection and I need to treat it, can I put the cream in with my period?

LadyD - May 25

Also, would I count last night as CD1 or today? Dumb question, I know, but I would believe yesterday because that's when I first saw af, right?

hey lady d are you sure it is a yeast infection? The reason i ask is i had a pap about 6 weeks ago and at the time the dr commented and said i had a bit of discharge and she thought it could be a yeast infection or something. I hadnt noticed anything different and said i have had a yeast infection before and i didnt think i had one now as im usually itchy/sore down there etc. Anyway she took a swap and sent it off and the results came back totally normal - no yeast infection or anything. Sometimes drs do get it wrong and im pretty sure mine would of given me something for a yeast infection if i hadnt told her i didnt think i had one .

Thanks for the info, oz. I used the Monistat 1 last night. I have to wear a pad because the box says no tampons. Does that mean for today or the rest of my cycle? I am waiting for the results from the dr. from my pap smear and blood work. She may be wrong because I thought you always have some symptom, you know a lil discharge at least, maybe an itch, I don't feel anything at all.
