Blood Test Wrong

Has anyone taken a blood test for pregnancy before and it come back negative but they were actually pregnant?

The only time I can see that happening is if you took the blood test too soon after the date of conception.

How soon is to soon to take one. I had what I think was implantation bleeding 18 days after s_x. Is that possible for it to take that long to implant? I had blood test done during this "bleeding" and it came back negative. To soon?

I'll give you a little of my own history. I had gotten preggo on 2/21. I had my first blood test on 3/3 (it was about 6 days before my period). The blood test had hcg's at 5 (which is considered a retest. the nurse said it was going toward negative). They made me retest and the levels where about 67 two weeks later (after the missed period). Unfortunatly after the 4 week roller coaster I had a natural m/c. However don't get discouraged because that was just my case. If you don't get your period take a hpt. My HPT came out positive one week after my af was due. I hope that was helpful.

what kind of blood test did you get - quant_tative or qualitative? You want quanTitative, where they can tell you the exact level of hCG in your blood - like, 10, 100, etc. It's pretty much too soon to take a blood test until you have missed your period - to be on the safe side. So do you think you took it too early? If you are late, it probably wouldn't hurt to get another one and make sure it's quant_tative... good luck!

Thanks for your responses. Jena..I don't know which kind of test I took and Pam thanks for your input. The thing is that I got my period 1 day early and it lasted only 2 days with much clotting (tmi sorry). So because I have been having some cramping in my very lower abdomen, (same area as pms cramps) and also cramping in the right & left sides, I'm thinking that maybe it could have been too early. I took the blood test 4 days after my "period" ended. Could it have been too early? I'm getting some discharge so I'm wondering if maybe I'm starting to ovulate but isn't it too early for that?

It's not unusual for woman to ovulate right after there period. Do you think you may be pregnant right now? If I where you I would schedule an ultra sound just to find out where the pain is coming from. I would also explain the 2 day period to the doctor.
