Can Being Overweight Affect Hpt Results

Just wondering if anyone knows if being overweight can cause a test to come back BFN because it takes longer to detect the pregnancy hormone. I think I saw it mentioned in an older post but, now I can't find it. I am almost 2 weeks late and got a BFN at 10 days late. Still no signs of AF and wondering if I should give in and test again. I hate to see another BFN....like we all do.

No your weight has nothing to do with the results of your test. The hormone is detected in your urine & weight has nothing to do with your urine. If you are still unsure you can always go get a blood test done.

I totally agree with you! However, on a similar post a couple of weeks/months ago I said the same thing and girls in this site had me for dinner, telling me I was completely wrong! Thank God someone knows what she is talking about! :)

This is still an open question for me. I have talked to enough overweight women who were late getting a positive hCG test that I think there might be something to it. Many hormones are fat-based, which is one reason underweight women quit menstruating. There is a treatment for obesity in other countries that relies on hCG injections.

HCG is not fat based. Treatment for obesity studies rely on digestion on HCG.

I was overweight a couple of years ago and I did not have my AF but after I had lost about 25lbs I started haveing af on a monthly basis...I am not sure if this could be a problem for you but I would go to the doc to see if something else is going on with you since you are so late...
